Rental Description

Casa Duquesa is a brilliant townhouse for families or groups of friends. It is located in a complex in Manilva, Andalucia and comes with three bedrooms, fabulous open-plan living space, terraces with sea views and shared gardens and a pool. It is a terracotta-painted, three-storey townhouse with a short walk to the beach and a very quick drive to Puerto de la Duquesa, the pretty marina and coastal resort. Puerto de la Duquesa is a delightful destination with no high rises. It is located close to Sabinillas and Castillo, also unexploited villages that offer charm and a warm welcome. Puerto de la Duquesa sits quietly between Sotogrande and Estepona. Sotogrande covers 2,500 hectares, the largest privately owned residential development in Andalusia. It stretches along 25 kilometres of the azure Mediterranean Sea, 25 kilometres east of Gibraltar and backs into the foothills of the dramatic Sierra Almenara. At the western end of the Costa del Sol, Sotogrande and Manilva are convenient for Tarifa, the stunning Alcornocales Natural Park, Gibraltar, and the breathtaking beaches and impressive nightlife of Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Also close is Estepona, an Andalusian hotspot between Manilva and Marbella which comes with narrow cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses and a mountain backdrop.  Casa Duquesa is ideal for those wanting to enjoy a relaxed holiday with days on the beach, visits to wonderful towns and villages, perhaps a round or two of golf and some delicious Spanish tapas. Its open-plan living space is light and airy, with a giant contemporary sofa arrangement at one end where you can relax in front of the television and smart dining space next to it. The kitchen is perfect for a self-catering break with all the modern appliances you could need.  Casa Duquesa comes with three bedrooms, two with beautifully dressed double beds and one with twins. All in white, these are dreamy havens where you can dive deep into slumber. Guests share two immaculate family bathrooms, one with a bath and overhead shower and the other with a shower. The townhouse also enjoys a useful utility room for laundry.  Guests can relax on large terraces and balconies, enjoying sea views and views of the community garden and pool. You can dine alfresco watching the sun go down or relax on sofas reading your holiday books and enjoying the scenery. These spaces are shaded for comfort. Another terrace is home to quality sun loungers where you can top up your tan and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple. If you fancy a dip, you can head down to the community swimming pool. It really isn’t far though to the nearest beach, so you may prefer to do that. Casa Duquesa is located in Manilva, a peaceful Andalusian resort surrounded by vineyards. Manilva village itself is 2km from the sea. Manilva is known for its Duquesa Castle, built to protect the coast from raids by pirates and its 18th-century Santa Ana Church. You can taste delicious seafood in its restaurants, including sea bream, red mullet, grouper, tuna and sardines. Within Manilva, there are several villages, such as the tiny fishing village of San Luis de Sabinillas or just Sabinillas for short. The marina is Puerto Duquesa and to the west, a small fishing hamlet called Castillo de la Duquesa after the castle. The area is well-known for its locally produced sweet wines. Grapes, red peppers and garlic are all grown and sold from roadside stalls direct from the farmers. Manilva dates back to Roman times, and there are still some well-preserved Roman sulphur baths. Puerto de la Duquesa is charming. It is situated between two excellent beaches.  Just along the coast, Estepona mixes traditional tavernas with modern cosmopolitan bars. It offers Spanish tapas, flamenco dancing, sophisticated shops, a pretty marina and a wonderful Blue Flag beach. Its coastline is over 20km long, with seventeen beaches in total. To the west of Estepona is the sheltered El Cristo Beach, with fine sand and some beach bars.  At the western end of the Costa del Sol, Sotogrande is one of the most luxurious sports and residential developments in Europe. It offers superb polo, a world-class marina, prestigious golf clubs, stunning beaches and some incredible bars and restaurants. La Reserva Club is very close to the Casa Duquesa, an avant-garde country club overlooking the Mediterranean and offering a diverse range of leisure and sports activities. Real Club Valderrama similarly offers state-of-the-art sporting and spa amenities. The excellent Trocadero Beach Club competes with one of the top beach clubs in Europe, the beachfront Marina Sotogrande, where you can wine and dine in style and relax, swim and sunbathe while enjoying the fabulous sea views. Visitors to Sotogrande can easily enjoy trips to Gibraltar, Tarifa and the tranquil Alcornocales Natural Park. Sotogrande also plays host to many serious sailing events, including the Brivon Movistar Cup and the J80 World Championships. Watersports offered include wakeboarding, kitesurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, diving and snorkelling. There are some amazing boat trips on offer to enjoy killer whales and bottlenose dolphins.  Further on from Estepona, you can visit Marbella for a touch of Mediterranean glamour. It is little wonder that Marbella remains as popular as it does with the rich and famous. Michelin-starred restaurants, manicured, challenging golf courses, marinas bustling with high-end yachts, chic, designer boutiques, glitzy entertainment and never-ending golden sandy beaches are all in abundance. The Arabic characteristics of Plaza de Los Naranjos, the old part of Marbella, are endearing together with balconies adorned with beautiful, vibrant flowers. The square’s restaurants place their tables in a small formal garden bordered by orange trees. You will find a labyrinth of narrow pedestrian streets laid with red tiles and crazy paving and beautiful plazas full of trendy, upmarket bars and restaurants and unique shops offering souvenirs, olive oil, local pottery and lace. The buildings are all whitewashed, wrapped in bougainvillaea and topped with terracotta roofs, many dating back to the renaissance. Alameda Park is just a few steps south of the Old Town and feels like a private garden. There are marble walkways, fountains and benches, all under a thick canopy of tropical foliage. Many of the benches are clad with azulejos, classic Andalusian hand-painted tiles. The handsome walkway, Avenida del Mar, leads from the park to Playa de la Venus, next to Marbella’s first-class marina. It enjoys palm trees and bronze sculptures designed by Salvador Dali. The central Plaza de la Iglesia is very beautiful and often hosts bustling markets and concerts. Besides the typical Andalusian cultural events, there are annual festivals dedicated to music, including the Marbella International Opera Festival, held in August, The Marbella Reggae Festival in July, plus the Marbella International Film Festival held in June.
A few kilometres east of old Marbella is the swanky and trendy Puerto Banus. Boutiques, super yachts and luxury sports cars meet your gaze everywhere in this fast-set resort. There is another Salvador Dali sculpture, the large Rhinoceros, which weighs 3.6 tonnes. Puerto Banus was designed and built in 1970 by local property developer Jose Banus. It is fantastic for star spotting. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
