Josep Pollensa Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
This charming four-bedroom villa in Pollensa, in the northern part of Mallorca, is ideally located for those wanting both peace and tranquillity yet easy access to the town. Overlooking the stunning Serra de Tramuntana, the property is elegant and comfortable but retains a rustic charm with tiled floors and shuttered windows. The lounge on the ground floor is a large and inviting space with two comfy sofas, a TV and a decorative fireplace. But during the daytime, you’ll want to open the sliding glass doors and soak up the glorious countryside views. From the lounge, an arched ceiling leads through to a neat dining area with a mahogany dining table seating six people. A well-equipped kitchen is also located off from the lounge and features a casual breakfast table and modern appliances, including a microwave, dishwasher and utility room with a washing machine. After breakfast, you can also step straight out onto the sunny terrace. There’s a convenient guest bathroom with a shower on this floor too.
From the ground floor, a marble staircase leads upstairs to the four bedrooms. The bedrooms are a mix of double and twin beds and are all generously sized and swathed in natural uplifting light. The master bedroom has a small private terrace and pristine en suite bathroom with a large tub, while the two twin rooms share a bathroom featuring a shower and bath. While the interiors are breezy and unfussy, the views are simply magnificent. One of the twin rooms even offers direct access to a fabulous terrace where you can sit and breathe in the scent of pine drifting across the rolling mountains. Back on ground level, the lush garden is a serene space with its manicured lawn, covered terraces and swimming pool.
Relax on the garden furniture and listen to the palm trees rustling in the breeze while gazing at the majestic mountains or laze poolside under the citrus trees. As the day’s colour slowly fades, freshen up under the garden shower, and then throw some fresh fish on the barbeque. The barbeque house is perfectly set up for outdoor dining, with its electric oven, food preparation area and large dining table and it is the ideal spot to enjoy sunset views and those sweeping views again. While villa Josep is an idyllic spot, it is conveniently close to amenities. Just a 5-minutes walk away is Pollensa’s main square with its shops, restaurants and cafes.Josep Pollensa is located right in the heart of Pollensa’s old town, in the northern part of Mallorca. Pollensa is a town rich in history and dates back to the thirteenth century. Although little of the medieval town has survived, the old town has retained an old-world charm. Seventeenth and eighteenth-century stone houses line cobbled paths while narrow streets lead to lively squares featuring buzzy restaurants. Every Sunday, there’s a popular market in the main square where you can pick up fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, wine, herbs and more. The main square also features a cluster of cafes and is overlooked by the thirteenth-century church of Nostra Senyora dels Angels (remodelled in the seventeenth century). It’s a pretty place to linger over a coffee while gazing at the church façade with its attractive rosette window. From here, be sure to climb the 365 Calvari steps to the Calvari chapel with its ancient wooden cross. It’s a steep climb, but at the top, you’ll be rewarded with sumptuous views over the town and out across to the Bay of Pollensa. Other historical places of interest include the Roman Bridge, which is still in use, and the Ermita de Nostra Senyora del Puig, a small mountain topped by a monastery. The mountain takes an hour to climb, and the views from the top are worth the effort. It’s a wonderfully tranquil and serene spot. Back in Pollensa, reward yourself with a tasty ensaimada (a traditional Mallorcan delicacy0 at one of the delightful bakeries.
If it’s a day at the beach you want, drive 14 minutes east from the villa to the family-friendly resort of Port de Pollensa. Backed by mountains, it’s a pretty bay, and the sheltered waters mean even youngsters can safely splash in the water. Older ones can also try their hand at paddleboarding. Afterwards, enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many beachside restaurants or take a stroll along the promenade down to the pretty marina where you can charter a yacht and explore the coastline further.
Golf-lovers can also enjoy a round at Golf Pollensa, a nine-hole course just a 10-minutes drive south of the villa. The course is challenging but pleasant and offers up more stunning views of the Serra de Tramuntana.
