This modern villa in the pretty town of Santa Lucia de Tirijana puts you close to many of Gran Canaria’s natural wonders, from the Roque Nublo and Pico de las Nieves to the stunning eastern coast. With room for up to 12 guests, it’s ideal for a special occasion or large-scale get-together, offering spacious rooms and a beautiful pool and terrace.
Villa Majanos gives you some lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy all day long. You have a covered dining area with barbecue, a lawn with seating area, another dining area (uncovered), plenty of sun loungers, and the gorgeous swimming pool which can be heated if required. For the children, there is also a playground.
Inside, the living room has a comfortable seating area with chunky sofas and armchairs, satellite TV, DVD player and music system, plus an indoor dining area. The kitchen forms part of the same open-plan space, where you have an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
Covering three levels, the house has five bedrooms, including two doubles and two twin rooms. The fifth bedroom also has a double bed, as well as a pull-out bed suitable for a child. In addition to a large family bathroom, there is also a playroom where children can enjoy TV, toys and games.
Santa Lucia de Tirijana is located around 30km inland, and is in the region of 40 minutes’ drive from Gran Canaria Airport. The town is situated south of the spectacular peaks of Roque Nublo and Pico de las Nieves, which are landmarks every visitor to the island should experience at least once.
Head south and you have some attractions the children won’t want to miss, including aquatic Aqualand, the dolphinarium of Palmitos Park, and Cocodrilo with its zoo and animal-themed exhibits. Adults may like to explore the beautiful beaches of Maspalomas, or the luxurious fashion, food and general good living which Meloneras – on Gran Canaria’s southern coast – does so well.Gran Canaria is an island which has it all. Exquisite landscapes, beautiful beaches, entertainment when you want it, and peace and quiet when you don’t. Its irresistible mix of nature, culture and a warm welcome to visitors brings people back time and again.
The capital, Las Palmas, sits in the far north-eastern corner of the island. Among its highlights are the huge marina, Muelle Deportivo, and the beautifully designed park, Parque Doramas. Also, look out for the eye-catching Alfredo Klaus Auditorium which itself looks out on Las Canteras beach. You may even see a show or a concert there.
There is lots more of architectural interest in the town. Many of the most interesting buildings are found in the Vegueta area, including Santa Ana Cathedral. You will also find a Christopher Columbus museum and a modern art gallery in this district.
Away from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria has many more highlights. The Cueva Pintada archaeological site is a must for history lovers, while the cloud-filled views at the island’s peak near the town of Tejada are definitely worth the journey. On the southern coast, you have the sand dunes of the extensive beaches at Maspalomas, while charming spots like Puerto de las Nieves and Agaete in the north west, will simply make you feel good with their unspoilt natural beauty.
As one of Europe’s most gay-friendly destinations, Gran Canaria has no shortage of welcoming bars and clubs, while the regular carnivals and fiestas provide good fun for all. Whatever you plan on doing, you can be sure Gran Canaria has the weather for it, with the sun shining pretty much continuously all year round.
