Finca Torrenova is a stunning eleven-bedroom property located just ten minutes from the popular family-friendly resort of Cala’n Porter. Accommodating up to twenty-five guests and set in the heart of the countryside on a 106-hectare plot, this traditional-style property is perfect for several families holidaying together, affording guests all the space, privacy and luxury they need to enjoy a memorable holiday on one of Spain’s most celebrated islands.
The villa is a feast for the eyes both inside and out, surrounded by lush green lawns, purple-blooming trees and majestic cacti. Its whitewashed exterior and terracotta-tiled roof are quintessentially Spanish, and you’re sure to be taking photos for the gram before you’ve even stepped foot inside! The interior is incredible, featuring whitewashed walls, sprays of exposed brickwork and delightful stone arches – it is deliciously bright, spacious and airy.
Finca Torrenova’s double living room means that there’s plenty of space for the whole group to chill out together in one place, and it features sumptuous sofas, beautifully-crafted furniture, a stunning open fireplace and a flat-screen TV. Through the impressive wide stone arches is a grand dining space with a large wooden dining table, and there’s a well-equipped kitchen, providing everything you’ll need to cater to yourself and your guests during your stay, including professional-grade appliances, cookware and utensils.
Guests staying here can choose from eleven stunning bedrooms, all with modern ensuite bathroom facilities for added convenience. Eight of the rooms feature a double bed, with another two rooms featuring two single beds and three single beds, respectively. The final bedroom is complete with a double bed and two singles – an ideal family room for a couple travelling with younger children. Each room follows the same traditional aesthetic as the rest of the villa, with neutral decor, stone walls and tiled floors.
Outside you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to spaces to relax and recharge your batteries, with several private and fully-furnished seating areas available for soaking up the sun, enjoying a good book, or partaking in a pre-dinner drink. The villa’s impressive porch and barbecue area are perfectly designed for enjoying alfresco meals, and you’ll find several other furnished and shaded spots dotted around the grounds for retiring to after dinner – perhaps to take in one of the glorious sunsets that the region is so famous for. Finca Torrenova’s beautiful pool terrace features a long, luxurious swimming pool – as perfect for practising your lengths as it is for splashing about with the kids. The resort was one of the first on the island and is a real treat for nature lovers, featuring mature flower gardens and offering plenty of beautiful walking trails. Everything you’ll need to enjoy your Spanish villa holiday is within easy reach in Cala’n Porter, with the resort featuring three good-sized supermarkets, as well as shops selling souvenirs, arts and crafts and beachwear.
The capital of Mahon is just a short bus drive away and offers a livelier, more bustling atmosphere. Here you’ll find the famous Xoriguer Gin distillery, where you can enjoy free samples of gin, liqueurs and other spirits before deciding what to buy – so be sure to stop in and purchase something delicious to enjoy back at the villa! Another popular draw for visitors to Mahon is the bi-weekly market where fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are sold in the cloisters of the hilltop church overlooking the harbour. The harbour here is one of the largest in the world and is lined with top-quality eateries serving up delicious local cuisine, as well as offering buzzing nightlife – so it’s well worth a visit during your trip.
History buffs will enjoy a visit to the Mahon Museums, which is built on the site of a former monastery and houses a large collection of prehistoric artefacts, including objects left by the Neolithic pastoralists who settled in the area in 4000 BC and materials from the Talayotic period.
