Located less than two KM from the historical city centre of Ciutadella, lauded as Menorca’s ‘prettiest city’, Villa Ortiga is an incredibly spacious four-bedroom property that oozes luxury. Accommodating up to eight guests, this modern and stylish property features everything you and your family will need to enjoy a relaxing and memorable stay on one of Spain’s most celebrated islands. The interior is decorated in dazzling white throughout and is complete with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors along the front that flood the living spaces with plenty of light and allow for seamless indoor-to-outdoor living. The gorgeous lounge space has a flatscreen TV, contemporary-style white furnishings, and plush sofas in shades of white and deep purple that are just begging to be relaxed!
Your entire party can enjoy delicious indoor meals in the villa’s separate kitchen/diner, which features a glossy black and white decor and incorporates a circular dining table and a well-equipped kitchen space that is bursting with modern, integrated appliances such as an oven and hob, microwave, coffee maker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine.
Villa Ortiga features four double bedrooms, all complete with private ensuite bathrooms with bath and shower facilities and wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. The light, fresh decor in each room is punctuated with pops of exciting colour found in the luxurious bedspreads and artworks, and soft, comfortable beds promise guests a relaxing and restful night’s sleep.
The outdoor spaces at the villa are private and enclosed and include a large pool terrace with a private swimming pool with a waterfall feature. The covered porch area is fully furnished with cosy lounge furniture – a wonderful spot for pre-dinner drinks and conversation, as well as an alfresco dining suite and barbecue grill for enjoying outdoor meals to enjoy with the whole family. The villa is complete with stylish poolside loungers for soaking up the sun, as well as a handy poolhouse and a delightful rooftop terrace – a great spot for enjoying a morning cuppa while taking in the incredible views.Villa Ortiga is located just metres from Santandria Beach, a stunning stretch of golden sands and palm trees set in a narrow rocky bay. The waters here are clear and shallow, making it a great spot for paddling and swimming. There are some handy amenities here, including sun loungers and parasols in the central part of the beach, as well as toilets and showers. The beach can get crowded during peak season, especially over the weekend, but during the week, it should be easy to find a nice quiet spot to enjoy. At the beach, it’s possible to rent water bikes to explore the bay or to visit the neighbouring beach of Sa Caleta, and there are often diving trips organised from here. If you’re here for the day and want to eat, there are three restaurants close to the beach, all offering varied menus and fantastic views of the bay.
Less than 2 km away is the former island capital of Ciutadella, which is well worth a visit during your stay. Famous for its historic harbour, street art culture and gentle buzzing nightlife, the pastel-hued streets make a refreshing change from the typical white-washed towns of the region and are dotted with little shops and delis where you can pick up some local produce to enjoy back at the villa. Excellence Luxury Villas recommends heading down to the marina during your stay, where you’ll find a variety of cafes and restaurants serving up delicious fare to suit all tastes and budgets, as well as offering spectacular views.
From the harbour, you’ll be able to book boat trips to explore more of the coastline – including a full-day trip lunch and a unique swimming and snorkelling experience on a 10-metre wooden sailboat. It’s worth knowing that highly-rated and affordable trips are incredibly popular, so it’s worth booking early so that you don’t miss out!
Playa Cala Blanca is the main beach here, a golden sandy stretch that is a fabulous location for enjoying some of the best sunsets in the Med and a great spot for spending a day soaking up the sun. The beach is popular with families thanks to its warm, calm, clear waters, soft sands, and amenities that include sun-lounger and umbrella hire, as well as with those who love to snorkel!
