Enter the villa at ground floor level where you will find an impressive open plan living area flooded with natural light and as far as the eye can see sea views. The seating area consists of two generous lapis blue sofas, a large armchair, big coffee table, and a flat screen television. The adjacent dining area has a large natural wood table and ten sea blue upholstered chairs to seat up to ten guests, perfect for some in house formal entertaining. The natural wood and white kitchen is sleek and chic, with everything you will need to cater for a family holiday, including a fridge-freezer, microwave, hob, dishwasher, and water cooler, and not forgetting the essential morning coffee maker. On this floor is the first of the five bedrooms, a smart double room trimmed with dark greys, with an ensuite marble shower room, and floor to ceiling windows that lead onto the pool terrace. A guest cloakroom completes the ground floor. Take the open wooden staircase up to the first floor to three spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom is decorated with dark wood with shades of raspberry red highlights, it has an inset king size bed, built-in furniture, and a free-standing jacuzzi with billowing white curtains with a straight out to sea view. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room, and a furnished balcony with super sea views. The second of the bedrooms is a large double with a king size bed, decorated with blue highlights, a flatscreen TV, an ensuite shower room and a shared sea view balcony with the adjacent bedroom. The third bedroom is a twin with two single beds, and sunshine yellow trim, a TV, an ensuite shower room, and shares the sea view balcony. On this floor there is a washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. Stairs to the second floor reveal a further double bedroom with an ensuite shower room, and access to the roof terrace. The roof terrace is home to a bar and kitchen area, a great place to mix a cocktail, then watch the sunset from the perfectly positioned hot tub.
The pool terrace can be accessed from the floor to ceiling sliding doors of the ground floor living area. The ladder access infinity swimming pool has a shallow end and a fun in the sun jacuzzi, with sweeping views over the Turquoise Coast. Cushioned sun loungers with parasols surround the pool, there’s a decked bathing platform for the serious sunbathers, and a covered pergola with seating for those seeking shade, or while away the day swaying in the hammock. A dining area to seat ten guests with a barbeque is the ideal spot for some alfresco eating. And for those wanting a bit of activity a full-sized ping-pong table, and a football table provide amusement for the whole family.
Villa Belgin is set on the coast of beautiful Kalamar Bay, to the west of the tourist town of Kalkan. Kalamar is 125 kilometres from Dalaman Airport, a scenic one and a half hour journey through the Turkish countryside and Taurus mountains. The villa is a short walk to the family-friendly Kalamar Beach Clubs, nearby are local bars and restaurants, and shops selling all the essentials, and it’s just a five minute drive into the town of Kalkan. Kalkan was originally a Greek enclave called Kalamaki, Ottoman and Hellenic influences can be found in the winding streets of the old town, full of traditional white houses and home to a plethora of restaurants, cafes and bars, and souvenir shops full of goodies you’ll want to take home.
No stay in Kalamar is complete without a boat trip from Kalkan harbour, whether it’s a shared one with family and friends or you charter your own gulet, a day out at sea with your favourite captain and crew, is one to treasure. All aboard for a day of swimming and snorkelling in beautiful bays, enjoy a meal of local homecooked meze, take afternoon tea, and then sail back to harbour cocktail in hand to watch the sunset. For the beach bunnies, Kalkan has its own pebble beach with easy access into the sea. Travel further afield to the stunning Kaputas Beach set in a natural gorge, or take a trip to Patara, where you will find twenty kilometres of unspoilt golden sands and a protected area for the hatching turtles. Kalkan is home to a number of beach clubs along the length of its coastline, have some fun in the sun at family-friendly resorts offering water sports and swimming pools, or relax and unwind at exclusive luxury destinations and be waited on hand and foot whilst enjoying alfresco spa treatments.
For those with itchy feet the Lycian Way walking trail cuts through Kalkan. Follow in the footsteps of thousands of years of history, as you trek the trail taking you through major archaeological sites, local villages, dramatic coastlines, and the areas’ flora and fauna. Take a short journey to the town of Kinik, where you can step back in time to the Lycian city of Xanthos. Follow the D400 to Fethiye, and discover the historical sites of Patara, Letoon, Tlos, and Pinara, where you can see the ancient ruins, amphitheatres and temples with Lycian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences. The harbour town of Fethiye is also full of ancient sites worth seeing, as well as a foodie-heaven fish market, and home to some seriously good designer labels and fabulous jewellery shopping. Whilst the nearer town of Kas is just twenty-five kilometres away, and worth the journey alone along one of the world’s most stunning and dramatic coastlines. Walk through the harbour to the cobbled streets full of Ottoman architecture and overhanging balconies festooned with pastel coloured bougainvillaea, barter for unique handmade and antique goods in its many shops, and make memories dining in one of the traditional restaurants serving authentic Turkish cuisine with mesmerising sea views. And if you’re feeling intercontinental hop on the twenty-minute ferry from Kas to the Greek island of Meis, where you can explore the Blue Cave and dine by the water’s edge.
