It’s all about the vistas when you vacation at Villa Burcu, perched above the holiday hot spot of Kalkan, overlooking Turkey’s Turquoise Coast on the Mediterranean Sea. This stylish three-storey modern villa has three spacious ensuite bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, ideal for a family holiday or groups of friends sharing. This light and airy, classic whitewashed stone villa has floor to ceiling picture postcard windows that open onto the pool terrace and sea view balconies. The villa has private parking, complimentary air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. High fencing on all sides ensures privacy, whilst the terrace opens onto the panoramic azure sea and majestic mountain views. The interiors are contemporary cool, furnished with elegant pieces, and decorated in a crisp, clean white palette contrasted with regal jewel colours.
Enter the villa at the ground floor level, where you will discover a bright and breezy holiday home from home. The super spacious sea view living area has access to the pool terrace and is furnished with a plush L-shaped sofa, wooden coffee and side tables, and a cinema screen projector television, with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and Premier League football already installed. The grey and white swanky kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cater for your holiday, including a family-size fridge freezer, a built-in oven and hob, and that must-have morning coffee maker. A six-seater wood dining set is the ideal spot to meet for breakfast and discuss the plans for the day. Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find two large well-appointed double bedrooms with sea-view balconies. One of the bedrooms has a double bed, and the other has two twin beds; both have modern ensuite marble bathrooms with walk-in showers. The second floor’s stairs will take you to the master bedroom, which has a double bed, an ensuite marble bathroom, and a sea-view Jacuzzi. There is a stunning panoramic view furnished top terrace, with stupendous vistas over the turquoise sea, islands, and mountains.
The terrace is terrific, and we know you’ll spend most of your days sunning yourself out here. There is a centrepiece, private, step entry, infinity swimming pool with a shallow end, and a raised area home to two sun loungers perfectly positioned to maximise those eternal sea views. Modern cobalt blue sun loungers with white parasols surround the pool, and swing chairs are waiting for you to while the day away. Soft seating areas can be found at two different spots; catch up with a morning coffee at one, and sundowner cocktails at the other. As the sun sets and dusk falls, take your seat at the alfresco dining table under the pergola, and enjoy a feast of local delicacies grilled on the barbecue. As the stars come out to shine, raise a glass of Turkish wine to the most memorable holiday.
Villa Burcu is nestled in the village of Kordere, overlooking the quaint harbour town of Kalkan on the Turkish Turquoise Coast, the jewel of the Mediterranean Sea. The town of Kalkan is a scenic one and a half hour journey from Dalaman Airport through the Turkish countryside and Taurus mountains. Originally a Greek enclave called Kalamaki, Ottoman and Hellenic influences can be found in the winding streets of the old town, full of traditional white houses, festooned with colourful bougainvillaea, and home to a plethora of restaurants, cafes and bars, and souvenir shops full of handcrafted artefacts you’ll want to take home. After dark, the town of Kalkan comes alive; enjoy a cocktail at one of the bars in Old Street, then dine in one of the many romantic rooftop restaurants, with views of the harbour at sunset as the stars come out to shine. From the villa, it is a quick walk to a local minimart and a short drive into Kalkan, where you can find banks, supermarkets, and a local Thursday market, that can provide all the provisions for a happy holiday.
Within walking distance of the villa are a few of Kalkan’s best and most exclusive beach clubs, with bathing platforms, fabulous restaurants, and full-size swimming pools and spas. Take a trip into town on a complimentary water taxi to one of the beach clubs on the opposite side of the bay. No stay in Kalkan is complete without a boat trip from the harbour; whether it’s a shared one with family and friends, or you charter your own gulet, a day out at sea with your favourite captain and crew, is one to treasure. All aboard for a day of swimming and snorkelling in beautiful bays, enjoy a meal of local homecooked meze, take afternoon tea, and then sail back to harbour cocktail in hand as the sun sets and dusk falls. For the beach bunnies, Kalkan has its own pebble beach with easy access into the sea, and a cosy cafe. Travel further afield to the stunning Kaputas Beach, set in a natural gorge, or take a trip to Patara, where you will find twenty kilometres of unspoilt golden sands, and a protected area for the hatching turtles.
For those with itchy feet the Lycian Way walking trail cuts through Kalkan. Follow in the footsteps of thousands of years of history, as you trek the trail taking you through major archaeological sites, local villages, dramatic coastlines, and the areas’ flora and fauna. Take a short journey to the town of Kinik, where you can step back in time to the Lycian city of Xanthos. Follow the main road to Fethiye, and discover the historical sites of Patara, Letoon, Tlos, and Pinara, where you can see the ancient ruins, amphitheatres and temples with Lycian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences. The harbour town of Fethiye is also full of ancient sites worth seeing, as well as a foodie-heaven fish market, and home to some seriously good designer label and fabulous jewellery shopping.
The nearer town of Kas is just twenty-five kilometres away and worth a visit for the journey alone, along one of the world’s most stunning and dramatic coastlines. Walk through the harbour to the cobbled streets full of Ottoman architecture, barter for unique handmade and antique goods in its many shops, and make memories dining in one of the traditional restaurants serving authentic Turkish cuisine. If you’re feeling intercontinental hop on the twenty-minute ferry from Kas to the Greek island of Meis, where you can swim in the mysterious Blue Cave and dine by the water’s edge.
