Stroll into this historic town, where narrow streets wind down to the glamorous harbour, lined with beautiful Ottoman buildings boasting timber balconies adorned with brightly coloured bougainvillea. Dine on rooftop restaurants serving delicious local delicacies watching the spectacular sunset and enjoy cocktails at one of the elegant harbourside lounge bars.
Kalkan’s location on the Turquoise coast, named after the breath-taking azure crystal-clear water it enjoys, is second-to-none. The town benefits from a lovely small pebble beach in the centre, perfect for snorkelling, and you can also enjoy boat trips to the spectacular Blue Cave, and wonderful hidden Kaputas Beach. However, the real draw is your location just a few miles from one of the most spectacular beaches in the Mediterranean. Patara beach boasts eight miles of coastal wonder, backed by mystical ancient Lycian ruins. A visit is a must and be sure to stay for the magnificent sunset.
There are plentiful locations nearby that you will love to spend a day visiting. The village of Islamlar nestles in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, renowned for its wonderful traditions, warm hospitality and unbeatable views across lush valleys to the white sands of Patara. A little further East you can explore the historic town of Kes, dating back to around 4BC and boasting a delightful bohemian ambience.
