Enjoy a stay in the charming white washed and local stone Villa Harnup. This beautiful round detached three storey villa with complementary curved private pool, has three double ensuite bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, ideal for a family or friend’s sharing holiday. Set in the hills of the holiday hot spot of Kalkan, just above the town, the villa offers panoramic harbour and sea views. Villa Harnup is surrounded by a well-tended mature garden, and rental includes daily maintenance of the pool and grounds. The villa has been sympathetically decorated with natural wood furnishings and a neutral palette throughout. There is a parking spot outside the villa, and complimentary Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout is included.
Enter the villa at ground floor level where you will a welcoming open plan living space. A spacious living area is flooded with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows, which give access to the pool terrace. The contemporary lounge has two large comfortable elephant grey sofas, facing a flat screen satellite television, and an open log fire for those cooler months and evenings. The classic white and stainless-steel kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for a happy holiday, including a family sized American style fridge, oven and hob, and a dishwasher to save anyone having to do the washing up. There is an adjacent modern breakfast bar with matching stools, the perfect place for breakfast. A convenient guest cloakroom with basin and loo completes the ground floor. Take the stairs to the first floor where you will find two spacious double bedrooms, stylishly decorated in stark whites and cool creams. Furnished with large double beds, bedside tables, open wardrobes, dressing tables, and ensuite tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers. Both bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows that open onto wrap around furnished curved balconies, where you can sit and absorb the stunning sea views and enjoy a morning coffee or evening cocktail. The second floor is home to the third double bedroom, snug in the eaves, with a large double bed, side tables and wardrobes, and an ensuite bathroom. Enjoy some bubbles in the bubbles as you step outside to discover a rooftop big jacuzzi bath with panoramic Mediterranean Sea views.
The pool terrace can be accessed from the villa via the sitting room windows, and is home to a small surround garden and inviting ladder entry curved pool, just right for some lengths before breakfast, or a wallow when the sun is shining. The pool is surrounded by natural wood sun loungers with white comfy cushions and shady parasols. There is a wooden swing seat just made for two, and a matching seating area for coffee and a chat. A wooden dining table to seat six is the perfect place to end the day dining under the shimmering stars of Kalkan Bay.
Villa Harnup is located at the top of the quaint harbour town of Kalkan, commanding magnificent views, situated on the Turquoise Coast, the jewel of the Mediterranean Sea. The town of Kalkan is 125 kilometres from Dalaman Airport, a scenic one and a half hour journey through the Turkish countryside and Taurus mountains. Originally a Greek enclave called Kalamaki, Ottoman and Hellenic influences can be found in the winding colourful cobbled streets of the old town, full of traditional white houses and home to a plethora of restaurants, cafes and bars, and souvenir shops full of goodies you’ll want to take home. From the villa it is a quick walk to local shops and supermarkets, and a short drive into Kalkan where you can find banks, and a local Thursday market, that can provide all the provisions for a happy holiday. Within walking distance of the villa are a few of Kalkan’s best and most exclusive beach clubs, with bathing platforms, fabulous restaurants, and some with full size swimming pools. Or take a trip into town and take a complimentary water taxi to one of the beach clubs on the opposite side of the bay. No stay in Kalkan is complete without a boat trip from the harbour, whether it’s a shared one with family and friends or you charter your own gulet, a day out at sea with your favourite captain and crew, is one to treasure. All aboard for a day of swimming and snorkelling in beautiful bays, enjoy a meal of local homecooked meze, take afternoon tea, and then sail back to harbour cocktail in hand to watch the sunset. For the beach bunnies, Kalkan has its own pebble beach with easy access into the sea. Travel further afield to the stunning Kaputas Beach set in a natural gorge, or take a trip to Patara, where you will find twenty kilometres of unspoilt golden sands and a protected area for the hatching turtles. Kalkan is home to a number of beach clubs along the length/ of its coastline, have some fun in the sun at family-friendly resorts offering water sports and swimming pools, or relax and unwind at exclusive luxury destinations and be waited on hand and foot whilst enjoying alfresco spa treatments. For those with itchy feet the Lycian Way walking trail cuts through Kalkan. Follow in the footsteps of thousands of years of history, as you trek the trail taking you through major archaeological sites, local villages, dramatic coastlines, and the areas’ flora and fauna. Take a short journey to the town of Kinik, where you can step back in time to the Lycian city of Xanthos. Follow the D400 to Fethiye, and discover the historical sites of Patara, Letoon, Tlos, and Pinara, where you can see the ancient ruins, amphitheatres and temples with Lycian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences. The harbour town of Fethiye is also full of ancient sites worth seeing, as well as a foodie-heaven fish market, and home to some seriously good designer labels and fabulous jewellery shopping. Whilst the nearer town of Kas is just twenty-five kilometres away, and worth the journey alone along one of the world’s most stunning and dramatic coastlines. Walk through the harbour to the cobbled streets full of Ottoman architecture and overhanging balconies festooned with pastel coloured bougainvillaea, barter for unique handmade and antique goods in its many shops, and make memories dining in one of the traditional restaurants serving authentic Turkish cuisine with mesmerising sea views. And if you’re feeling intercontinental hop on the twenty-minute ferry from Kas to the Greek island of Meis, where you can explore the Blue Cave and dine by the water’s edge.At
