Villa Meltem is a luxurious four-bedroom villa overlooking the breath-taking Kalamar Bay and boasts the majestic Taurus Mountains as a backdrop. From the villa, it’s only 100 metres to a quiet turquoise cove with a soft sandy beach and crystal-clear calm swimming waters, and you’re within walking distance of charming Kalkan town with an eclectic mix of Greek and Turkish architecture.
The villa itself elegantly combines traditional Mediterranean architecture with cool contemporary interiors. Outside, the building is minimalist with whitewashed walls and tinted-blue glass balconies picking out the hues in the sky and the sea. Inside, the rooms are airy, welcoming and spacious with natural-coloured furnishings, playful pops of colour and expansive windows letting in the light.
For a relaxing home-from-home experience, there’s a large, open-plan living, kitchen and dining area equipped with appliances such as a dishwasher, coffee machine and washing machine. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, and there’s Wi-Fi throughout. You’ll also find a TV and DVD player to keep you entertained on those chilled evenings in and a BBQ for dining outside in the warm weather.
Set over three wonderful floors, you’ll find the fourth room,  a twin bedroom, accessed from the frony garden terrace at Villa Meltem. The main house houses two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, all with sea view balconies. The master double bedroom boasts a Jacuzzi and access to a furnished roof terrace which also has fabulous coastal views. All rooms are equally seductive and stylish and have en-suite bathrooms.
Making the most of the serene setting, you have a private outdoor swimming pool and a terrace that’s dotted with furniture and umbrellas – perfect for sun-lounging in peace or enjoying a refreshing drink after dinner. Oh, and did we mention there’s a shaded al fresco dining area (to accommodate eight), a table tennis table and an outdoor shower too? Villa Meltem is set in a peaceful spot overlooking beautiful Kalamar Bay on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. It’s slightly west of the old fishing town of Kalkan and has the majestic pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. The quiet cove is sheltered and is a popular place to simply swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters or take part in water sports like kayaking, scuba diving or jet skiing.
A short walk from Kalamar Bay takes you into Kalkan centre with an exquisite harbour dotted with Turkish wooden gulets (boats), waterfront restaurants and a beautiful and historic old town area which extends back from the sea. Wander the streets with houses draped in brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers or dine on a roof terrace restaurant with spectacular views of the town. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan and Turkish Baths for a relaxing end-of-day massage.
To immerse yourself in the rich history of this charming part of Turkey, you can visit the Church turned mosque by Kalkan’s harbour. Venturing furthering afield you can take a boat trip to visit various stunning bay or from nearby Kas to the small island of Kekova where you can snorkel and explore the part sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century, known as the sunken city.
For outdoor adventurers, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with deeply cut valleys and canyons are an ideal place to hike. You could also join the popular Lycian Way – a long-distance footpath that takes you around the coast. The route stops at great Lycian sites including the aquaduct betweenCavdir and Uzumlu with abandoned Greek buildings. Lycian sites in the area include Patara, Xanthos, Letton and Tlos to name a few. The bohemian town of Kas is a 30 minute drive, while the resort town of Fethiye is a one-hour drive away.
