Wow what a great sense of space! Villa Mosaic is a super modern spacious villa both inside and out, with floor to ceiling windows letting in lots of natural lights to the large rooms, and a panoramic sea view as far as the eye can see from the horizon to the harbour. Located in the hillside of Kisla, in the exclusive resort of Kalkan on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, this four bedroom, five bathroom villa can accommodate up to eight guests, and is a fabulous holiday home for a large family or friend’s sharing. This uber modern villa, built over four storeys, comes complete with its own private garage, and complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout. Think sparkling white, glass, and chrome structure, with contemporary fixtures and fittings, and splashes of primary colour highlights for fun.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will find a world of open plan living. The seating area has a large L-shaped comfy sofa, worked around wooden coffee and side tables, and a flat screen television. The sofa can be converted into a sofa bed if required. There are two contrasting arm chairs with a coffee table and bookcases in a cosy corner, ideal for a chat about how you are going to spend your day. The eye-catching black, white, and cream kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holidays, including a huge American style family size stainless steel fridge freezer, the very latest fitted appliances and that must-have morning coffee maker. The adjacent wooden dining table has eight white chairs, and is the ideal place for some impressive indoor entertaining. Take the stairs to the first floor where you will find the master bedroom, which occupies the whole space. There is a large king size bed, simply furnished with bedside cabinets and wardrobes, and a Jacuzzi bath with a stunning Mediterranean Sea view. The bedroom has a separate ensuite marble bathroom with walk-in shower, WC, and hand basin. Floor to ceiling glass windows open onto a fully furnished wrap around glass balcony, with a panoramic sea view over Kalkan, the town, and the harbour.
The stairs to the second floor take you to another double bedroom in an eaves room with a king size bed, side tables and wardrobes and an ensuite shower room, with a big balcony with views of the bay and the backdrop of the Taurus mountains. The other two bedrooms are located on the lower ground floor. One a double room with a king size bed, the other a twin with two single beds, that can be pushed together to make a double if preferred. Both have their own ensuite marble bathrooms with walk in showers. Keep fit whilst on holiday in the state-of-the-art gymnasium, equipped with the latest machinery to give you a great workout. All three rooms give access to a shared balcony and a grass area, perfect to cool down and relax after a training session.
The tiled terrace can be accessed from the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors of the living area. Here you will find a seriously impressive warp around L-shaped ladder entry infinity swimming pool, imagine doing a few lengths before breakfast as you take in that view. The pool is surrounded by the latest in sun loungers, dressed with red towels, and shady parasols to keep you cool in the hot summer sun. There’s a double swing seat in which to sit and catch up on this year’s best sellers, and a ping-pong table to practice your whiff-whaff. Take a seat at the wooden table with eight chairs upholstered with funky orange cushions, prepare supper at the built-in barbeque, with its own adjacent mini kitchen, and dine alfresco under the evening stars.
Villa Mosaic is located in Kisla, to the east of the quaint harbour town of Kalkan, situated on the Turquoise Coast, the jewel of the Mediterranean Sea. The town of Kalkan is 125 kilometres from Dalaman Airport, a scenic one and a half hour journey through the Turkish countryside and Taurus mountains. Originally a Greek enclave called Kalamaki, Ottoman and Hellenic influences can be found in the winding colourful cobbled streets of the old town, full of traditional white houses and home to a reputed one hundred and fifty restaurants, cafes and bars, and lots of souvenir and craft shops full of goodies you’ll want to take home. From the villa it is a short walk to the local supermarket for your daily provisions.
Take a short drive into Kalkan where you can find supermarkets, shops, banks, and a local Thursday market, that can provide all the you will need to cater for a happy holiday. Within walking distance of the villa are a few of Kalkan’s best and most exclusive beach clubs, with bathing platforms, fabulous restaurants, and some with full size swimming pools. Most notably there is the smart Villa Mahal, where you can dine by candlelight as the waves lap the seashore, or the beautifully dressed Zest with wood burning pizza oven and infinity pool. Or take a trip into town on a complimentary water taxi to one of the many inviting beach clubs on the opposite side of the bay.
No stay in Kalkan is complete without a boat trip from the harbour, whether it’s a shared one with family and friends or why not charter your own private gulet, a day out at sea with your favourite captain and crew is one to treasure. All aboard for a day of swimming and snorkelling in beautiful bays, enjoy a meal of local homecooked meze, take afternoon tea, and then sail back to harbour cocktail in hand to watch the sunset. For the beach bunnies, Kalkan has its own pebble beach with easy access into the sea. Back on land don’t miss the opportunity to experience an authentic Turkish hammam, enjoy the heat and bubbles of a hands-on massage, and be pampered in one of the many super spas all over town. Travel further afield to the stunning Kaputas Beach set in a natural gorge, only two hundred steps down, and two hundred back up again. Take a trip to Patara, where you will find two two-thousand year old ampitheatres, and twenty kilometres of unspoilt golden sands with a protected area for the hatching Caretta Caretta turtles. For those with itchy feet the Lycian Way walking trail cuts through Kalkan. Follow in the footsteps of thousands of years of history, as you trek the trail taking you through major archaeological sites, local villages, dramatic coastlines, and the areas’ flora and fauna. Take a short journey to the town of Kinik, where you can step back in time to the Lycian city of Xanthos. Follow the D400 to Fethiye, and discover the historical sites of Patara, Letoon, Tlos, and Pinara, where you can see the ancient ruins, amphitheatres and temples with Lycian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences.
The harbour town of Fethiye is also full of ancient sites worth seeing, as well as a foodie-heaven fish market, and home to some seriously good designer labels and fabulous jewellery shopping. Whilst the nearer town of Kas is just twenty-five kilometres away, and worth the journey alone along one of the world’s most stunning and dramatic coastlines. Walk through the harbour to the cobbled streets full of Ottoman architecture and overhanging balconies festooned with pastel coloured bougainvillaea, barter for unique handmade and antique goods in its many shops, and make memories dining in one of the traditional restaurants serving authentic Turkish cuisine with mesmerising sea views.
