Escape from the madding crowd with a stay in the charming Villa Ozuk, located at the apex of the Bitez, Gumbet, Bodrum golden triangle in the ancient town of Konacik. This one-storey traditional stone-built villa is home to two ensuite bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to four guests, ideal for a small family or two couples sharing. Villa Ozuk is set within its own walled garden, populated with mature olive trees from the original terrain and an interesting mix of plants and flowers. The villa comes complete with complimentary Wi-Fi and air conditioning throughout. The interiors are furnished with stylish pieces, and decorated with a palette of neutral shades of browns, beiges, and creams, to give it a relaxing home from home holiday cottage vibe. Whilst the impressive grounds and gardens have been recently updated to create an alfresco living space.
The interior has wood beamed rooms with plaster stone walls, which gives the villa a traditional rustic feel. The seating area has a large wrap around L-shaped light beige sofa, wooden coffee tables, an open wood burning fireplace for the cooler months and chilly evenings, and an LCD satellite television. In the tiled hall is a four seater wooden dining set, ideal for entertaining indoors. The classic pine kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for a happy holiday, including an oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine, a family size fridge dresser, and the must have morning coffee maker. The master bedroom is romantically dressed in billowing white drapery, with a wrought iron double bed, bedside cabinets, and a large ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, single hand basin, and a WC. The second bedroom has two twin beds and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Access the gorgeous grounds and gardens via the main door to reveal an outside living space where we think you’ll be spending most of your time. Walk down the garden path to the step entry large swimming pool, swim a few lengths before breakfast, or cool down with a dip in the afternoon sunshine. The pool is surrounded by four white cushioned sun loungers, complete with shady parasols. Relax in the rattan chairs, sway in the green three seater swing seat with shaded awning, lie out on the large white circular day bed with matching umbrella, sit back in an old fashioned deck chair and catch up on this year’s best seller. Take a stroll around the impressive garden and admire the local flora and fauna, lie on the lush green lawn, and snooze under the natural shade of an old olive tree. If it all gets too hot, cool down under the poolside shower. Enjoy a morning coffee or evening sundowner on the soft seating in the enclosed pergola with floor to ceiling glass doors before an alfresco dinner at the outside dining table, served with local delicacies cooked on the built-in barbecue.Villa Ozuk is situated in the ancient settlement town of Konacik, five kilometres north of the international tourist town of Bodrum, where the Greek Aegean meets the Turkish Mediterranean Sea. The villa is a forty one kilometre, fifty minute drive from Bodrum International Airport, get there by taxi or frequent, reliable local public transport. The villa is three and a half kilometres from the citrus-scented resort of Bitez itself, with its many cafes, bars and restaurants, and local shops and supermarkets stocked with everything you will need to cater for a happy holiday. There is a supermarket and restaurant within walking distance for immediate supplies.
The town of Bitez plays host to a weekly market every Thursday, selling home-grown fruit and vegetables, freshly caught fish, locally pressed olive oils, honey from the farmer hives, and souvenirs to remind you of your stay; it’s all very bazaar. Every Sunday there is a flea market, where you can find Turkish bric-a-brac to take home, and make time to visit the old Greek orthodox church with its famous dolphin mosaic. Start your holiday with a scrub and clean at the nearby Bitez Hamman, the best way to prepare for a super tan. The bay of Bitez has a beautiful half-moon sandy beach with a mountain backdrop, pre-book sun loungers and shady brollies, sample the water sports and wind surfing, relax in a hand-woven hammock, and refresh in one of the many cafes and bars. If it is fun and frolics in the sun you are looking for, go five kilometres south to Gumbet, a lively cosmopolitan resort with buzzing bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, beaches, pubs, and nightclubs.
Some seriously good beach clubs populate the peninsula, the oldest is Sarnic, where you can bathe, swim and surf, or you may fancy the buzzing Buddha Bar and Beach Club with its international live music concept and evening entertainment. For some adult beach club vibes try Xuma in Yalikavak with its Chill Out Festival and no young children policy. Push the boat out and hire a yacht with your own captain for a lazy day at sea, sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling, or set sail on a shared one departing every morning from the harbour.
Further, afield just twenty minutes’ drive away is the town of original fishing village of Yalikavak, which now offers a range of family fun activities, an impressive marina, where you can marvel at some seriously amazing super yachts, and spend all your lira in the marble shopping mall to rival Milan, selling all of your favourite designers and brands, with your own personal shopper as an optional extra. Go east and in twenty minutes you’re in the cosmopolitan town of Bodrum, with the impressive St Peter’s fortress, an Underwater Archaeology Museum, and a Maritime Museum, not to mention the great shopping, and fabulous food.
If you love the nightlife, go to Gumbet, the next village along, with lots of live music, busy bars, and dancing until dawn. Adventure further afield to see some real Turkish delights. Well worth the journey is a trip to seep yourself in history at the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ephesus, and the amazing library that is still standing. Lose yourself in the cotton clouds of the incredible geological magic of Pammukale, and bathe in the life-enhancing Cleopatra’s bath.
