Villa Chania A Greece

Resort Villas
| 3 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

Situated in the city of Chania on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Crete, is Villa Chania A, a 3 bedroom maisonette property built in a neo-classical style and nestled in an elevated position that offers magnificent views of olives groves, mountains, and the sea.
The ground floor of the property features an open plan living/dining area, featuring stone tiled flooring and sporting a neutral decor. Stylish sofas in a contemporary shade of deep plum are adorned with plush cushions in cream and gold, and modern touches such as plasma TV, DVD player, and WiFi blend with the beautifully ornate fireplace and wooden ceilings. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge-freezer, and is authentically Greek in design with intricately patterned tiles on the walls and stylish units in white with accents of dark wood. The ground floor houses two of the three bedrooms, one double and a twin. The other bedroom, a double, is situated on the first floor. Each bedroom is decorated in neutral shades complemented by the light-coloured stone tile floors, and punctuated by a feature wall in a  bold shade of terracotta, mustard or lime. Fixtures and furnishings are kept simple and minimal, with small wooden bedside cabinets, lamps, and pretty framed mirrors. The first floor also houses the villa’s large bathroom, which comprises of a bathtub and walk-in shower cubicle, as well as the washing machine. The room is modern and spacious and features light cream and chocolate tiles, a large mirror, and stylish wash basin.
The first floor bedroom opens out onto a private terrace which features a small table and chairs, and offers absolutely incredible views across the olive groves and out to sea. It’s the perfect place to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility with a morning coffee and a sunrise, or why not a glass of something sparkling while watching it set? Guests at Villa Chania A can also enjoy the use of an outside dining area and bbq – perfect for dining alfresco while taking in the incredible sights of the mountainside, and a private pool surrounded by sun loungers.
Known for its 14th Century Venetian harbour, narrow streets and waterfront restaurants, Chania is awash with Ottoman, Egyptian, and Venetian influences and with its touches of Florence combined with the wonderful culture of the Cretan people, it is generally considered to be one of the most beautiful and eclectic areas of Crete. Close to the harbour, visitors here will experience the stunning architecture of some of the oldest buildings of Turkish and Ventian design, as well as museums, churches, and craft shops selling local wares. There are many restaurants and cafes in the area offering everything from home-baked bread, bean salads, and excellent game, meat and vegetable dishes, as well as north African and Middle Eastern cuisine.
The harbour itself is famous for its old lighthouse and waterfront Firkas Fortress (now the maritime museum), not to mention the ancient Turkish mosque that now hosts art exhibitions rather than being used as a religious building, and at night the waterfront and surrounding streets come alive with bars and clubs.
Set on Crete’s north coast, the region boasts beaches aplenty, from the Blue Flag awarded beach in Agioi Apostoloi and Gerani, to the more cosmopolitan bar-lined strip in Agia Marina, known for its red and gold sands and palm trees, and where from May to September you can watch the comings and goings of loggerhead sea turtles nesting on the beach. A short walk from the harbour will take you to Chania’s own beach, a beautiful sandy stretch well-equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, and where you’ll find plenty of cafes and tavernas to visit along the front. The water here is calm and shallow, and that, coupled with the fact that it is the nearest beach to the town means it can get quite busy. A second, quieter stretch of beach consisting of sand and shingle, Kladisos Beach, can be found just across the bridge by the harbour.
For holiday-makers who want more than sand, sea and sun, Chania offers plenty of cultural and educational attractions as well as natural beauty to enjoy. The Naval Museum delivers a fascinating introduction to the history of Crete, and the Maritime Museum on the west side of the port organises exhibitions to promote the Mediterranean arts. Other attractions that will appeal are the Archaeological Museum, and the Venizelos Graves, which has incredible views from amongst the trees, across the Venetian harbour and sweeping out over the sea and beyond. During the summer the region hosts cultural events around the town, including in the public gardens and in the open air theatre, which houses various musical and theatrical performances.
