As one of the most appealing spots on the Montenegrin coast, Sveti Stefan is the ideal location from which to discover the country. Known for its fortified island village, it lies on a coastal route between Petrovac and Budva, with easy access to other must-see sights like the Bay of Kotor and Lovcen National Park.
Your accommodation at Cakuli Villa is set over two floors, with both a hot tub and outdoor dining area enjoying the spectacular view of the Adriatic Sea. On the lower floor, you have another dining area and living space, with direct access to a terrace. This open-plan room features a double sofa-bed and cable television with DVD player. It’s accompanied by a well-equipped kitchen with all the necessary facilities including a dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and fridge. Also, on this floor, there’s a family bathroom.
On the upper floor, you will find two bedrooms with sea-view balconies, each one with a double bed and wardrobe. Another bathroom is available on this floor too.
This villa is set close to the centre of Sveti Stefan, and has the use of a variety of resort amenities. These include a 15m x 5m swimming pool, a tennis court, gym and an Italian restaurant. Wonderfully photogenic, Sveti Stefan offers a stunning view to the island from its beach, and enjoys a rugged mountain backdrop. The southern coast of Montenegro offers idyllic beaches for sure, but there’s plenty more to see. The big draw for tourists is the resort of Budva, a modern city complemented by a charming Old Town. Stretching down to the sea, the views are as delightful as buildings found on its quirky little streets and squares.
Not far away, Dukley Marina provides a cool spot to enjoy dinner and drinks looking out over the water. Children will also love Budva’s Aquapark, the biggest water-park on the Balkan Coast and full of thrills for all the family.
Beach lovers can make the most of the 12km of sands at Velika Plaza, found down the coast in Ulcinj, Montenegro’s southernmost coastal town. This extensive beach is often found hosting music festivals and parties, and it’s ideal for water-sports, as well as long, long walks.
Not all of Montenegro’s attractions are coastal, so head inland and see the likes of Lipa Cave, thought to be the biggest cave in Montenegro, and certainly the only one that offers organised tours on this scale. The beautiful Lovcen National Park is great destination if you’re looking for natural beauty. Another impressive example of this is the Tara Canyon, the world’s second deepest after the Grand Canyon – and you can even zip-wire across it.
The capital, Podgorica, has some interesting attractions, including a centre for contemporary art and a huge vineyard and winery. The beautiful Cijevna waterfalls also make this area worth a visit, yet the capital doesn’t make it onto everyone’s itinerary. If you’re concentrating on the north of the country, you’ll want to see the Bay of Kotor and the magnificent Old Town of Kotor – it’s certainly a visitor favourite, but go later in the day and you should find the crowds have thinned out.
