It’s impossible to miss the Parthenon in Athens, rising up over the city and illuminated at night. For most, these preserved columned ruins are the epitome of the ancient world. In the narrow streets of the city, you’ll find Byzantine churches, adorned with ancient mosaics, tucked in between street food restaurants serving gyros wraps and bakeries serving spanakopita.
