The day begins as light streams through the huge sliding doors that lead to the patio. Follow the morning sunlight out to the terrace, where you can linger (maybe a little too long, there’s no rush) over a cup of coffee as you stand awe-struck by that fabulous view – one which transports you back in time to the days of the Ancient Greeks as you gaze out over the sea surrounding Crete. Then the rest of the day is yours for loafing on the terrace, firing up the barbecue or tr, or simply spending some quality time together watching a family favourite or two on the flat-screen TVs.
Of course, staying in a holiday home affords you the freedom to get out and explore the highlights of the local area – so why not do just that? Our favourites for a day of sun-drenched fun include Star Beach and the aptly-named Golden Beach. Or, for those in search of something a little more cultural, then the Lixnostatis Folk Museum is not to be missed and gives a great insight into Cretan history.
