If you want to explore the area, Crete’s secluded west coast boasts some of the best beaches and most picturesque scenery on the island. It’s made all the better by the fact its slightly off-the-beaten-track location means that it remains relatively untouched. Highlights include Falassarna, Elafonisi and Balos beaches, ranging from thirty minutes to over an hour away. All offer Caribbean clear water and fine sand not found in other parts of the island.
