Approaching this charming stone villa, you’d think that it had sat in this valley for hundreds of years. In fact, it’s been built recently, but with salvaged materials that emulate the rustic-rural style of older Umbrian homes. There’s a cultured, worldly feel to the living room with a library wall, kilim cushions and Persian rugs, and the kitchen is the kind of place you can imagine memorable candle-lit meals stretching long into the night. In the summer months though, you’ll no doubt want to eat on the rose-covered terrace, with its outdoor sink and prep area. The saltwater pool is set just down from the house and boasts incredible views of the Umbrian countryside as well as plenty of loungers for that post-lunch snooze. The village of Parranowhere is just down the road, for stocking up on supplies for your nightly Italian feast, but beyond that you’re not likely to want to go anywhere.
