In an elevated position, with incredible views across the Tuscan countryside, this historic home has real gravitas. Just five minutes drive from Montaione, it enjoys an enviable location with Pisa, Siena, Florence and Lucca each not much more than an hour’s drive away. Built of brick and stone, its period charm graces both the facade, with its impressive archways, and the interior (think vaulted brick ceilings, whitewashed wooden beams, tiled floors and window shutters). It’s a traditional place, so it’s no surprise to find antique furniture, but there are quirky touches too like the mid-century dining chairs and the 1970s leather sofas. A few steps from the house, the partially walled patio area is one of the home’s key features. A place to sit for breakfast, lunch and dinner, staring out across the hills and valleys, it’s pretty and full of character. And from here it’s just a few steps down the path to the private swimming pool, where you can cool down in the water and drip dry on the sun loungers.
