Pineapple Shiny is a quiet apartment that leans heavily into the calming colour scheme. It’s not going to win many awards, but it’s a decent size for two people. You can also make the most of the possibility to stay in a slightly different part of Rome – Tuscolana has a lot of history, and while there are only a few signs left, you pretty much have the place to yourself.

*It takes well over an hour to walk into the middle of the city (though there is a metro station nearby)
*When we measured the wi-fi, it was only 7Mbps
*The flat is on the ground floor, so it doesn’t get much natural light
*There are no windows in the bathroom
*Two people can sleep on a sofa bed in the living space, but four would be a squeeze for the flat
