This former winery is a feast for the senses. Set on a hillside on the southeastern side of the island, it’s been thoughtfully put together so guests can make the most of outdoor living. In a rural spot, surrounded by acres of pine trees, eucalyptus and olive groves, it’s a peaceful place for a family or group of friends to relax, while being just a forty-five-minute drive from the beaches. And the pretty hilltop town of Caltagirone is just ten minutes by car.
The historic building has been beautifully converted, with a stylish, modern look and comfy furnishings. We love the spacious, double-height living room, with its galleried landing, and the terraces that it flows out to so easily. A chef’s dream, there’s a fabulous, well-equipped kitchen for cooking indoors as well as a built-in barbecue outside. And the covered dining terrace with its unbeatable views is a truly memorable spot for special meals. And while it’s anything but rustic, there are nods to this building’s past here and there – such as a bed made from wine barrels.
The pool is one of the prettiest we’ve seen for a while and nature lovers will be thrilled to hear the home is set in private grounds of twenty-four acres – giving you plenty of space to explore on foot or by bike.
