Casa Mourita is absolutely stunning! You would be forgiven for thinking you were in Marrakesh when you stay at this gorgeous wonder! With a magical blend of hammam-style bathrooms, dreamy bedrooms, a gorgeous plunge pool, courtyard terraces, a roof top and exquisite living spaces, it offers truly luxurious accommodation, all balanced with lots of attractive greenery. Casa Mourita offers five bedrooms, sleeping up to ten guests.
This beautiful property sits on a very quiet cobbled street in the centre of the historic town of Silves. Silves is nestled on the banks of the River Arade, dominated by one of the best-preserved castles in the Algarve, perched on a Serra de Monchique hill. Silves was the capital of the ancient Arab kingdom of Algarve.This charming town boasts wonderful, historic red sandstone buildings, outdoor cafes, excellent restaurants, fountains, a market hall and scented orange groves. Silves is a twenty minute drive to the sun-drenched golden beaches of the Algarve.
Behind a striking azure door, you will be enchanted by Casa Mourita. The villa has been totally renovated by the passionate Portuguese owners under the guidance of Studio Arte architects. The styling of the villa pays homage to the Moorish history of the town as well as adding luxurious, contemporary features. The attention to detail of every element is incredible. Throughout, you will discover handmade Portuguese and Arab tiles and stunning vintage furnishings along with crisp fresh linen, an impressive Marshall sound system, a stunning sun deck, a gastronomic kitchen that will impress the most discerning of chefs and a stunning alfresco dining area.
The heart of Casa Mourita is its gorgeous courtyard with its four different terrace areas and its brilliant, atmospheric lighting. The striking, cobalt green plunge pool is perfect for cooling off. It might be relatively small at 4m x 2.5m but it is a real blessing! Steps lead from the terrace to a green enveloped sun deck where you can relax with your holiday book enjoying the sunshine and the magical roof top views. There are parasols should you be too hot! Just off the pool terrace is a shaded chill-out terrace with lots of colourful cushions, another wonderful spot. Under a super cool, black contemporary pergola, the alfresco dining area is excellent with a long wooden table and chairs and a fantastic outdoor kitchen and barbecue, all surrounded by lush greenery. Casa Mourita also offers an outdoor shower and a handy separate toilet.
The ground floor of Casa Mourita is home to a double bedroom, a bathroom, a living room and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, hob and dishwasher. The luxury bathroom is sleek, beautiful and enjoys hammam styling with a double shower that you climb into. The living space doubles as a smart office should you need to catch up on emails. A door leads outside and to stairs that lead to the pool terrace. The double bedroom is gorgeous with exquisite furnishings, a dreamy, calm colour palette and gorgeous accessories.
The second floor is home to two double bedrooms, a shared bathroom with a very large hammam-style bath with a rain shower and waterfall faucet, a sensational living room and a chef’s dream of a kitchen. A trendy ladder leads to a mezzanine level with two single beds. Like the ground level, the upper floor enjoys air conditioning and underfloor heating, so that the villa is comfortable in all seasons. The living room boasts sumptuous sofas, the Marshall sound system, cable television and giant windows that drown the room in natural light. The kitchen is incredibly stylish and boasts top-of-the-range appliances including a Siemens stove and oven and a Nespresso machine. Fabulous black framed doors open to the pool terrace. Across the terrace, there is a separate, detached double bedroom with a private shower room and direct access to the pool area. This is a fabulous room with a contemporary four poster bed and intricately carved wooden furnishings. All of the bedrooms are cool havens with minimalist styling and beautifully dressed beds. You will remember your stay at Casa Mourita for a long time!Casa Mourita is located on a charming cobbled street in Silves, a gorgeous town with a fascinating history. This ancient Arab kingdom inherited a stately outline, the epitome of which is its red-hued castle, the largest castle in the Algarve. The castle enjoys wonderful views of the town, its fertile fields covered with orange trees and the beautiful River Arade. Silves was conquered from the Moors in 1189 by King Sancho I but the Moors were only fully expelled in 1242 by King Afonso III. The ancient mosque was transformed into the town’s cathedral, starting in Gothic style and completed during the Baroque period. Opposite the cathedral is the Igreja da Misericordia, much of which dates back to the 18th century. Silves is a crumbling place full of lively alfresco cafes and a Moorish-style garden which is open daily to visitors. A defunct cork factory is now home to a couple of museums and some bars and cafes. In August, the town hosts a lively beer festival. It is good to visit the town in the morning for its colourful riverfront market, near its 13th century bridge.
It is a twenty minute drive to the beach from Casa Mourita. There are plenty to choose from from Lagos to Albufeira including Praia da Oura, Praia do Peneco, Praia da Coelha, Praia de Sao Rafael, Praia da Falesia, Praia dos Arrifes, Praia do Castelo and Praia de Santa. Albufeira’s town beach of Praia do Peneco is reached through a tunnel through the cliffs or by taking an elevator from the beautiful promenade where you will enoy sensational sunset views. Tourists enjoy the journey to the beach. At low tide you can take some seriously long beach walks along the golden sandy coastline, admiring the red cliffs that back most of the beaches along the way. The fabulous Praia da Falesia is almost 6km long and takes roughly two hours to walk!
Albufeira’s Old Town is lined with charming restaurants, whitewashed houses and excellent, unique shops. There are over 100 restaurants in Albufeira, many serving super fresh fish straight from the marina. The marina is a top-notch, modern tourist destination in its own right, brimming with luxury yachts, colourful fishing boats and excellent, chic restaurants.  
Almancil is worth a visit. It is charming and typically Portuguese, brimming with cute cafes, restaurants, galleries displaying the local pottery and many artists workshops. The neighbouring village of Sao Lourenco boasts the most attractive church in probably the whole of the Algarve. It is decorated with characteristic blue tiles telling the life of its patron saint, beautiful azulejo work dating back to 1730. Very close to the church is the local centro cultural which hosts a range of art exhibitions and musical performances.
