Apartamento Funcho is centrally located in the heart of Funchal, close to a number of amenities, restaurants and beaches. As you enter Apartamento Funcho, you are welcomed into a large, open living and dining room. Divided by decorative shelves, this room provides plenty of space to unwind and relax. The space is light and bright thanks to sliding doors that lead out onto a small balcony offering views of the city and the chance to sit down and relax to the hum of the streets below. The living area is centred around a wall-mounted flat-screen television and is home to a sizeable three-seater sofa and accompanying two-seater chair with matching footrests. The stylish rug and low-hanging light add a cosy feel to the otherwise open space. To the other side of the dividing shelves, you will find the dining area. With a modern Scandinavian-inspired dining set seating eight guests and stylish peacock print on the wall, this space offers chic living and the chance to dine in style.
The modern feel continues into the kitchen at Apartamento Funcho. With sleek white counters and cabinets and all the necessary mod-cons to whip up a feast for the whole group, this is a great space for any budding chef. Guests can dine at the breakfast bar on the kitchen island or head out to the balcony where a small dining table sits with four chairs, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or evening tipple.
Leading off a long corridor, you will find the apartment’s four bedrooms. Each with sliding doors allowing natural light to flood in, and with double glazing, fresh white design and splashes of colour, these bedrooms are a calming oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city below. Sumptuous double beds can be found in all four bedrooms, and each also benefits from its own en-suite bathroom for extra privacy, so everyone can get ready in peace.
With multiple balconies and a private roof terrace, guests at Apartamento Funcho can admire the busyness of the streets below from your sanctuary above. The roof terrace enjoys views down the Avenue Calouste Gulbenkien to the hillside beyond, and even boasts a private pool that can be heated upon request! Surrounding the pool is a small terrace dotted with sun loungers so you can make the most of the sunshine. Apartamento Funcho is ideally located for those looking to enjoy the sites of the city and head out the beaches and relax on Madeira’s coastal shores. The apartment’s convenient location makes heading out the city’s restaurants, bars, markets and sights a breeze, as you are a short walk or taxi ride from a number of amenities.
The cable car in Funchal is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Offering stunning views over the city and a unique perspective from above, the cable car is a fun way to explore Funchal. And when you reach the top, you can visit the Monte Gardens. These stunning ornamental gardens offer some light relief from the sun as areas are partially shaded – be sure to check out the Chinese garden! Another fun activity in the hills of Funchal is a toboggan ride down the mountain. Reached again via the cable car, these adrenaline-pumping rides are truly unique and are such fun, although you may need to walk the rest of the way down as the rides don’t take you to the bottom of the hill!
One of the nearest beach to Apartamento Funcho is Praia Formosa. Like many of the beaches on Madeira, the black volcanic sand and pebbles certainly make the experience a little different from other places. Located in a popular area of Funchal, Praia Formosa offers pebble shores with a few sandy areas and the opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing Atlantic Ocean.
Beyond the city of Funchal, Madeira has plenty to offer. Porto Moniz, a small village on the northwest of the island, is known for its volcanic pools. Head for a swim in the pool before visiting the Fort of Sao Joao Batista where you will find the Maderia Aquarium. Although small, the aquarium makes for a great afternoon out and is an excellent way for kids to learn more about the underwater world. Immerse yourself in nature and head to the walking trails in Levada das 25 Fontes.
