With numerous balconies, this sea-view apartment in Funchal is cool, modern, and comfortable. Set across two floors, there’s a great flow to the place, with sociable living areas, lots of big windows inviting the natural light in, and a contemporary mix of all-white walls and dark wood floors. Stylish furnishings are mainly grey and white, and the kitchen is fully kitted out for cooking at home. Eat around the dining table as a group or grab a sandwich and take it out onto one of the balconies – there are enough to give everyone some privacy. From here it’s just a short, fifteen-minute walk down to the sea, and there are local shops and restaurants nearby too. If you’d like to head further afield, simply hire a car and explore more of the island or hop on a bus to the historic centre of Funchal.

*The apartment building is on a very steep hill so although it’s a short walk to the sea, it’s uphill on the return trip
*You’ll have a parking space if you’re bringing a hire car, but this is quite a tight spot
