This heritage-style Portuguese villa has beautiful ochre exteriors with elegant curves and a supremely spacious pool. The whole family will have a fantastic time swimming here and relaxing on the sunbeds that run alongside the sparkling pool. There are several outdoor lounge areas surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, and an outdoor kitchen complete with a barbecue.
The villa has a large cobblestoned courtyard and a private garage. The entire area is encompassed by trees that ensure a secluded spot for guests to relax, swim and dine together. Step into the beautiful hallway with stylish cream tiled floors and a high ceiling. This area runs cohesively through the centre with the downstairs rooms leading off it.
The living room has windows that open out to the poolside area. Decorated in a rustic yet charming style, the villa has lemon yellow walls, lots of wood and graceful archways that lead to other rooms. Vintage-style art hangs on the walls and there is a huge, cosy corner sofa in shimmering grey. Traditional wooden beams adorn the ceiling, adding to the homely atmosphere.
A soft green countryside kitchen is fully equipped, perfect for guests who love to create bespoke meals for their family. A glossy kitchen island sits pride of place, where guests can prepare their meals and hang out. There is a cute tea set and even a wine rack. The space is open plan and leads to a dining area, with grand white chairs and patterned armchairs nearby. Guests can also dine alfresco on the terrace, nestled within draping trees and beautiful greenery.
The four bedrooms at this villa are decorated in a romantic style with individual personality in each room. One bedframe is crimson, while another has bedding in cobalt blue. There are a mixture of double and twin beds all dressed in crisp linen – the capacity is eight guests in total. One room has white filigree-style mirrors, while others have beams that match the living room. All rooms have characterful patterned curtains.
Bathrooms are an understated yet stylish affair with tonal patterned and marbled tiles, convenient dual sinks and walk-in showers. Some rooms have their own bathtubs, while others have walk-in showers.The villa is located in a superb spot in Quinto do Lago, part of the exclusive Golden Triangle of the Algarve. Within walking distance of bars and restaurants, this villa is ideally placed for those who want to take advantage of the Algarve’s world-class golf courses.
There are two superb centres close to the villa, the first is Pinheiros Altos, boasting three independent and challenging circuits, a driving range and putting green. The course is nestled between pine trees and sweeping countryside. The second is the award-winning Quinto do Lago resort, which has a performance centre, a Paul McKinley Golf Academy and championship-level courses, all with superb views.
The South Course has stunning views of Rio Fermosa National Park. This nature reserve has lots of exhilarating hiking and great bike trails that pass by lagoons and even salt pans. The park is home to an array of wildlife and stunning natural beauty.The Algarve has countless amazing blue-flag beaches – in the nearby vicinity you can visit Praia do Garrão, with its picturesque white sand and sparkling sea. Alternatively, visit one of the most famous beaches in the Golden Triangle, Praia do Ancão. This gorgeous beach has almost 7km of golden coastline, with a backdrop of iconic sandstone cliffs.
Dolphin spotting will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. The dolphins are curious and friendly towards humans – up to 50 can be seen swimming happily in the wild sea. Many boat companies will bring a marine biologist on board, so guests can learn all about the clever mammals. Lots of boat trips can be taken around Vilmoura, which has a world-famous marina filled with million-dollar yachts and lots of fine restaurants.
Peaceful Almancil is just a short drive from the villa, where guests can admire the Church of São Lourenço, which has dazzling blue tiles on the inside. This style of design is known as azulejo and the Baroque church dates back to 1730. Nearby, there is a lovely cultural centre that hosts a variety of art exhibitions as well as musical performances.
Faro is also a great day trip from the villa – sightseeing includes the Arco de Vila, a neoclassical waterside gateway and the Milreu ruins. Just 10 minutes’ walk up a hillside lies the mysterious Roman-era mosaics, including a very well-preserved fish design and the inner workings of an ancient bath. It’s also a great place to tuck into some tasty local fare, such as arroz de linguerao, a hearty rice dish with razor clams and fresh seafood.
