Rental Description
The delightful Villa Corti is a single storey villa built-in 2005. It enjoys a countryside location and offers 3 bedrooms and gorgeous, far-reaching views out to the sea in the quiet hamlet of Alcaria Cova. The pretty hamlet is 4km east of the lovely town of Estoi, 10km south of the market town of Sao Bras and 10km north of Olhao. This wonderful property is located on a hill with gorgeous views and is 11.5km from the sea. With a beautiful garden and a fabulous terrace with a generous swimming pool, it is a brilliant, peaceful spot with easy access to Faro, Vilamoura, the Ria Formosa, golf courses and some lovely market towns.
Villa Corti is bright and beautiful with tasteful, traditional furnishings with a modern twist. The spacious living and dining room is very comfortable with squishy sofas and a natural colour palette with lime green colour pops. An arch leads the way to the modern kitchen with its handy breakfast table and excellent appliances. Double sliding doors lead from the living and dining room to a large terrace where guests can enjoy alfresco dining and stunning panoramic views. It is a great spot for breakfast and to enjoy the sunsets.
The villa boasts 3 bedrooms. One is the master double with an ensuite shower room and a charming red and white colour scheme. The two twins are cheerful, bright and airy rooms, one in red and white and the other in blue and white. They share the fully-tiled family bathroom. Great care has been taken to colour match the accessories of each room.
The covered terrace circles the villa and leads down to the spacious pool terrace and swimming pool. The pool is a good size at 8m x 4m and is surrounded by loungers. The garden is beautifully maintained and includes a built-in barbecue for your alfresco dining. Villa Corti enjoys a wonderful spot where you can admire the fabulous views and totally relax. Make sure you pack lots of books to read! You are likely to want to stay at the villa some of the time, enjoying the tranquillity and natural setting through the delights of the Ria Formosa, and the Algarve is no distance away.
Villa Corti enjoys a very secluded, tranquil location in the peaceful hamlet of Alcaria Cova, close to the centre of Estoi and only 10km from both Sao Bras and Olhao with its excellent access to the Ria Formosa beaches. Faro and Vilamoura are also nearby. There is a shop just over 1km away from the villa, and the closest beaches are the islands of Armona and Culatra via the Olhao boats.
To the north, Sao Bras is a delightful, pretty town with a good range of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, the interesting Museum de Troja and some lovely historical buildings, including the town’s main church, Igreja Matriz de Sao Bras de Alportel.
Estoi is 4km from the villa, 10km into the hills above Faro. Estoi is full of Algarve charm and is famous for its palace, Palacio de Estoi, the Roman Villa of Milreu and its 15th-century church, the Igreja Matriz de Estoi. It enjoys a relaxed hill-town atmosphere and a slow pace of life. There are pretty houses and a number of quaint cafes. The Palacio de Estoi, now a hotel, is the main attraction just a short walk from the main square. The hotel allows visitors access to several palace rooms, the cafe and the beautiful gardens, which are brimming with statues, fountains, azulejos and the bonus of breathtaking, panoramic views.
Olhao is a major fishing port. In Olhao, the first canning factory was established in 1882, sparking a trend that spread in both directions along the coast, with canned tuna and sardines becoming a large source of income for the Algarve. The old quarter of Olhao is brimming with Moorish-style houses, square and whitewashed with flat terraced roofs and boxed chimneys. The church of Nossa Senhora does Roario dates back to the 17th century. The chapel behind it, dedicated to Nossa Senhora dos Afelitos, is still where the fishermen’s wives gather during stormy weather to pray for their husbands. The long, delightful promenade is very attractive with the Jardim Pescador do Olhanense gardens. The fish market on the waterfront is Olhao’s main draw. It is buzzy and quaint and sells honey, live chickens, a huge array of local produce, and many types of fish. There are fabulous, atmospheric cafes and restaurants overlooking the colourful boats moored along the waterfront in the marina and the sandy beach islands of Armona and Culatra.
Small ferry boats take tourists to the islands of the Rio Formosa for beach days and fabulous picnics and lunches. Ilha da Culatra is beautiful and perfect for snorkelling and diving. Ilha do Farol is in the area at the western end of Culatra with a lighthouse. Ilha da Armona is the nearest to Olhao and boasts a few fish restaurants and a gorgeous, golden sandy beach. The islands are especially beautiful at sunset. Tavira Island is further along the coast and again is lovely. You can take a ferry ride across the River Gilao. Praia do Barril is reached by a 1km pretty track or a cosy train ride once you have crossed the water. The town of Tavira is beautiful with charming, narrow streets lined with cute cafes and decked with flags and colourful flowers. Tavira lies along the slow-flowing Gilao River and is a delightful mix of traditional Portuguese heritage with Moorish influences. Many restaurants serve delicious meals, plus there is a myriad of decorative churches.
You shouldn’t miss an evening stroll in Faro Old Town, entering through the town’s 11th-century Arab gateway, Arco da Vila, the oldest horseshoe arch in the country. The old town is a charming labyrinth of pretty narrow streets lined with cafes, bars and restaurants. The Manuel Bivar Gardens are very pretty, and the Municipal Museum is an interesting find to enjoy many archaeological items.
Vilamoura is a modern playground for the super-rich who arrive in their million-dollar yachts at the town’s stunning exclusive marina. The town boasts a fantastic beach, elite golfing with five exceptional courses, chic lounge clubs, fine dining, a casino and much entertainment.
