Estoi is a wonderful location. It boasts one of the Algarve’s finest 19th century neo-Rococo styled palaces, the pink painted Palacio de Estoi which is now a hotel. The palace enjoys beautiful ornamental gardens. Guests can also visit the town’s Milreu Roman Ruins. Guests enjoy trips into Faro Old Town or to pretty villages such as Almancil, Loule, Tavira and the fishing town of Olhao. Golf fans are in for treat with amazing, world class golf courses nearby. Just the other side of Faro, guests can enjoy gastronomic feasts and superb entertainment in Vilamoura.
Villa Quadri is mostly built on one level. A modern, generous sized kitchen offers an excellent range cooker as well as other wonderful appliances. All of the spaces are linked by arches so this leads to a delightful open plan living and dining area. Throughout the villa, you will find serene spaces that are almost all drowned in natural light. The living area is a wonderful elegant space with a high vaulted ceiling and a contemporary log burning sofa which is surrounded by a comfy sofabed and chairs. The natural colour palettes are complemented by lovely blue and turquoise colour pops and the gorgeous tiled floors. Doors open from the living area to a terrace and the garden. The master bedroom is located on the ground floor, another serene space with colourful modern art, a comfy double bed and a fabulous, beautifully tiled ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a delightful children’s bedroom with bunk beds and another bright and airy double room with another excellent ensuite shower room. There is a further immaculate family bathroom with a walk-in shower. The final bedroom is found on the first floor, a charming double with a small balcony and an ambient vaulted ceiling.
Though the interiors are warm and inviting, guests staying at Villa Quadri are likely to spend a lot of their time outside. The villa boasts a shaded alfresco dining and lounge area, another alfresco dining area in a sun drenched spot, a floodlit tennis court, the wonderfully generous pool and a barbecue and wood oven. There is so much space to relax, take a wander and enjoy the scenery. There is private parking for four cars. Villa Quadri enjoys a lovely countryside setting approximately 7km from the nearest beach and close to the quiet town of Estoi. Estoi enjoys plenty of shops and restaurants but if you want to shop more you can head to Mar Shopping, the luxury shopping mall. Next door to Mar is the Designer Outlet Algarve Village with many fashion and lifestyle brands.
Golf can be enjoyed at the nearby world class Monte Rei Golf Club or the Quinta do Lago Golf Club and Victoria Golf Club to the west. There are so many more options too with 16 courses within a short drive of the villa. Since 2013, the Victoria Golf Course, designed by Arnold Palmer, has hosted the Portuguese Masters.
There are many beaches within easy reach of the villa including the sensational Praia da Fuseta Beach 7.8 km from the villa. Also easily accessible are Vale do Lobo Beach, the beautiful Garrao Beach and the breathtaking Quinta do Lago Beach. The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is a stunning natural park of sandbanks, barrier islands, salt marshes and lagoons which stretches 60km along the Algarve coast from Faro and the fishing town of Olhao to Tavira and beyond. The park is a haven for wildlife including flamingos and chameleons. There are some amazing beaches on the islands that rest close to the coast, including Farol Island, Culatra Island, Armona Island, Tavira Island, Deserta and Fuzeta. You must take one of the little wooden boats over to the beach, it is a lovely experience. Ilha da Culatra is beautiful and perfect for snorkeling and diving. Ilha do Farol is at the area at the western end of Culatra with a lighthouse. Ilha da Armona is the nearest to Olhao and boasts a few fish restaurants as well as a gorgeous, golden sandy beach. The islands are especially beautiful at sunset. Tavira Island is further along the coast and again is lovely. You can take a ferry ride across the River Gilao. Praia do Barril is reached by a 1km pretty track or a cozy train ride once you have crossed the water. The town of Tavira is beautiful with charming, narrow streets lined with cute cafes and decked with flags and colourful flowers. Tavira lies along the slow flowing Gilao River and is a delightful mix of traditional Portuguese heritage with Moorish influences. Many restaurants serve delicious meals plus there is a myriad of decorative churches. It is definitely worth the trip!
There are many marinas within easy reach where you can take boat trips or enjoy the fabulous restaurants lined up. Vilamoura Marina is the largest and classiest marina in the Algarve. There is also Faro Marina and Olhao Marina. Olhao currently takes roughly 400 boats though it is being extended. Restaurants, bars, pastry shops, ice cream parlours and shops line the marina. It was in Olhao that the first canning factory was established in 1882, sparking a trend that spread in both directions along the coast, with canned tuna and sardines becoming a large source of income for the Algarve. The old quarter of Olhao brims with Moorish-style houses, square and whitewashed with flat terraced roofs and boxed chimneys. The church of Nossa Senhora do Roario dates back to the 17th century and the chapel behind it, dedicated to Nossa Senhora dos Afelitos, is still the place where the fishermen’s wives gather during stormy weather to pray for their husbands. The long, delightful promenade is very attractive with the Jardim Pescador do Olhanense gardens. The fishmarket on the waterfront is Olhao’s main draw. It is buzzy and quaint and sells honey, live chickens, a huge array of local produce as well as many types of fish. There are fabulous, atmospheric cafes and restaurants overlooking the colourful boats moored along the water front in the marina and the sandy beach ilhs of Armona and Culatra.
You should also head into Faro Old Town for an afternoon or evening, entering through the town’s 11th century Arab gateway, Arco da Vila, the oldest horseshoe arch in the country. The old town is a charming labyrinth of pretty narrow streets. The Manuel Bivar Gardens are very pretty and the Municipal Museum is an interesting find to enjoy many archaeological items.
