Maison Lierre France
Holiday Home Rental Description
A charming five-bedroom villa with wonderful mountain views, the beautiful Maison Lierre is perfect for those looking for a tranquil environment.
Built in 1824, there is a sense of traditional charm to the villa. Deep green ivy winds its way across the soft shades of the stone walls, rising towards the vibrant terracotta tiles of the roof. The exterior blends naturally with the forests which surround it, assuming its perfect position in the rural landscape.
Refurbished as recently as 2017, this villa is an embodiment of the fusion of old and new, traditional and modern, that is so appealing in the region. The common spaces possess all the charm of a 19th century home, with exposed beams in the ceiling and a vast open fireplace in the kitchen, yet have the modern comforts of a contemporary villa. The kitchen is large enough for several cooks to get involved in meal preparation, with a lovely large table at the centre. With two living areas to choose from, as well as a vast private garden, guests always have a choice of activities.
With an array of tribal prints, vibrant colours and beautiful artwork, many of the rooms have a more modern feel whilst others are more traditional, with exposed stone walls and simpler colour palettes.
Beyond the warm interiors you will find a vast and serene garden, far away from any neighbours and offering endless opportunities to play, relax and enjoy the fine weather of the region. There’s not only an amazing swimming pool, but even a pool house equipped with a barbecue, so you needn’t even go inside to cook!
With spectacular views of the Lance mountains and Mount Rachas, you will find yourself very near to Grignan and its fabulous Renaissance castle, as well as the unmissable Grotte de Rochecourbière and of course the Truffle Museum to taste one of the many exquisite local delicacies.
Within three kilometres you have a grocery shop and restaurant, with further facilities within a fifteen-minute drive. At the same time, you have nearly a kilometre between you and the nearest property, a huge plot of land to enjoy, and even a little river with a beach running along one end of the grounds. Truly the best of both worlds! With wonderful views of the stunning Parc Naturel Régional des Baronnies Provençales, Maison Lierre is perfectly located to enjoy the natural scenery and activities like hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing and cycling, for which Drôme is famous.
