Mas du Cheval Blanc France

Cottage/Gite/Farm, Luxury Villas
| 7 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

-In the Luberon National Park, a region filled with rich landscapes and archetypal Provençal villages, Mas du Cheval Blanc is a beautiful farmhouse full of character with wonderful gardens and an idyllic private swimming pool.
This 18th century mas has been carefully restored into two delightful homes; a grand two-storey house with four bedrooms plus a smaller but charming second home with three pretty bedrooms all on one level. Wood-beamed ceilings, fireplaces, terracotta floors and a real sense of character add to the appeal of this farmhouse. The main house features a wonderful living room with satellite TV, adjoining an inviting country kitchen whilst the second home has a lovely open-plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen corner and a welcoming place to eat. Each of the seven bedrooms, some of which feature further beds on mezzanine levels, have been styled with simplicity and charm and offer ample space for a large group of friends or maybe a couple of families travelling together.
Gather outside and enjoy the four acres of gardens with vast lawns and a pretty row of cypress trees leading to the glorious heated swimming pool. There are many wonderful spots where you can peacefully read a book or laze in the sunshine before joining your friends and family by the roaring barbecue under the covered terrace and sipping wine from Cotes du Luberon vineyards as the day draws to a close.
There’s a lovely medieval village nearby with a couple of restaurants, bars and shops or head to the nearby town of Cavaillon where you can admire the historical architecture and pick up some local delights at the market, including melons which the town is so famous for. If you’re visiting in early July look out for the rather wonderful Féria du Melon with melon markets, tastings and fireworks amongst other festivities.
Driving through fields of lavender, summer landscapes of sunflowers, rolling vineyards and olive groves, you’re within easy reach of many beautiful Provençal villages such as Gordes, Ménerbes, L’Isle sur La Sorgue and even Saint-Rémy whilst the stunning cities of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence are barely an hour away.
Enjoy this stunning part of Provence surrounded by charm and character in his beautiful and historic home. Mas du Cheval Blanc has an enviable location in the western part of the Luberon valley in beautiful Provence.
It’s only 1.5km to a charming medieval village with a couple of restaurants and bars. You can wander around the village, soaking up its history and admiring the fascinating water wheel or head out for a walk in the stunning surrounding countryside.
It’s also just a 15-minute drive to the larger town of Cavaillon (5km) with excellent facilities such as supermarkets and a wider choice of restaurants. Discover the region’s amazing cantaloupe melons at the weekly market (the Féria du Melon is in early July!) and explore its great heritage with a 1st century Roman arch, 12th century cathedral and late 18th century synagogue amongst many other beautiful historical buildings.
As well as hiking trails, there are also some great cycling routes across this region, many following paths through forests and idyllic villages across Provence. There is also tennis nearby and horse-riding is a popular pastime through the extraordinary landscapes. Keen golf players have a choice of courses within half an hour. If you fancy a more leisurely activity, be sure to try some of the excellent wines to be found across the local Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon vineyards.
The Luberon National Park hosts many of Provence’s archetypal villages such as Ménerbes (13km), Lacoste (20km), Bonnieux (24km), Roussillon (24km) and Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes (17km), one of France’s Plus Beaux Villages. Drive through fields of lavender, summer sunflowers and rolling vineyards in this remarkable part of southern France.
Another highlight of the Luberon is L’Isle sur La Sorgue (14km) with its canals and the river Sorgue running through the town and an amazing Sunday morning market including wonderful local food and one of the largest brocante in Europe. Hire canoes along the Sorgue river and sail from Fontaine de Vaucluse, the source of the river back to to L’Isle sur la Sorgue.
You’re also perfectly positioned to drive to the glorious Alpilles Natural Regional Park, another area of outstanding natural beauty with delightful villages including Eygalières (20km), Saint-Rémy (26km) and the incredible Les Baux-de-Provence (35km).
Not to mention the famous and historic cities of Avignon (30km), the capital of Provence, and Aix-en-Provence (65km), one of France’s most beautiful university towns, both easily reached by car. You can even drive just over an hour (or take the train from Cavaillon) to the amazing city of Marseille (80km).At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
