Rental Description

Just on the outskirts of the beautiful Cala Sant Vicenc, in a quiet and secluded area with the backdrop of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, is Villa Carmela.  The sleepy village of Cala Sant Vincenc is less then a five-minute drive away where you will find a handful of restaurants and bars, the odd tourist shop and a couple of local grocery stores, and yet this is the very essence of its charm.
This beautiful stone-clad house with its terracotta coloured roof tiles and typically Spanish white-washed interior, is common in this part of Northern Mallorca. As you walk up the stone-cobbled courtyard, you are welcomed by the burst of colour and smell of fresh herbs, from within the well-maintained gardens surrounding this home.  The living-room with its comfortable sofa, wall-mounted TV, music-system and access to the internet, is reflective of the need for modern living, whilst holding on to the simplicity of the past.  The conservatory surrounded by glass walls is the perfect place for a meal with the family, whilst enjoying the well-manicured gardens and the view of the surrounding countryside, beyond.
The three bedrooms are decorated plus furnished in a traditional style.  The whitewashed walls, the wooden-framed beds, the glorious wooden ceiling beams, and the old-world style kitchen featuring a traditional wall-oven (fully equipped and with modern amenities) remind you of the simple country-life of yesteryear.  The soft furnishings and paintings that are dotted throughout the house provide the much appreciated zest of colour.
The outside covered terrace with BBQ, offers three separate areas to enjoy the ‘Al-fresco’ life, one for each meal of the day!  The beautifully manicured walled-garden with the sun-loungers, provide security for the younger members of the family, whilst you relax with a good book.  At the centre is the oval shaped swimming pool with its Roman-style steps leading you to the cool sparkling water, ideal for cooling off on those sizzling-hot Spanish afternoons.Cala San Vincente (or in Mallorquin ‘Cala Sant Vicenc’) is part of the municipal district of Pollenca and one of the smallest resorts on the north-west coast of the island AND probably the least touristy. As the road gently meanders towards Cala Sant Vicenc, the views are breathtakingly-heavenly, as the rocky cliffs dive down to the turquoise-blue sea enclosed by the sandy beaches, below. The four small cove beaches that form the resort of Cala Sant Vicenc, are the jewel-in-its-crown; and with their crystal clear waters, each one has its own unique charm. Cala Molins is the most popular and accessible of the four coves.  Its magnificent turquoise waters, its European Blue Flag status and a choice of restaurants/bars in close proximity is perfect for the water and beach worshippers, alike.
Exploring by car is easily the best way to see this dramatic coastline, with its small bays of small tranquil beaches surrounded by the rugged rocks and dramatic cliffs.  However, many would say that the best way to explore it is on foot.  Hence, why hikers, walkers, and ramblers enjoy its close proximity to some fabulous hiking routes in Northern Mallorca.  In fact, there is a great hiking path through this valley from Puerto Pollensa to the bay of Cala Sant Vicenc that takes about an energetic hour to walk. As for the keen birdwatchers, it is fairly common to catch a glimpse of birds like the Peregrine Falcons, Swifts, Nightingales and the famous Black Vultures who are native to this specific area, as well as many species of migrating birds.
The village itself is built on a hillside, which can sometimes be challenging for those with mobility issues, as a fair bit of uphill/downhill walking is required.  It is fairly small and limited to a few restaurants and bars, the odd tourist shop and a couple of basic grocery stores, and yet this is the very essence of its charm.  The bigger towns of Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa are a twenty minutes drive away with their open-air Markets, on Wednesday in Puerto Pollenca and on Sunday morning in Pollensa; offering locally grown/produce, seasonal fruits and vegetables, along with an abundance of other goods, ceramics and Arts & Craft.
