Chateau Aubepine, built in 1621, is a private chateau rental for group holidays located 65km from Lyon. The chateau is a “classé Monument Historique” which is the highest recognition from the French government of its historical significance. The property is surrounded by a beautiful garden (Jardin à la française), created by Le Nôtre (Louis XIV‘s gardener), in the middle of a forest, 3km from the village of Fourneaux, and 7km from the nearest train station at Amplepuis.
The chateau sits within a 3 hectare park, among 100 hectares of private woodland. Facilities on the estate include a kitchen garden and a 11x6m swimming pool. The region is renowned for its gastronomy with an excellent range of activities for all ages in close proximity.
The chateau comfortably accommodates groups of up to 8. Guests will enjoy the benefits of excellent facilities available nearby or on the estate. On site you have the petanque court, horse riding within the grounds, the swimming pool and a private fishing lake. In the vicinity are numerous golf courses and those with children will find the chateau to have a wide range of child-friendly activities. The owner also offers breakfast or delicious evening meals. The village offers a bakery, a butcher’s shop, a mini-market and a French pub.
The property is situated on the borders of Burgundy, the Lyon area and the Auvergne region. Loire is part of the current administrative region of Rhône-Alpes and is surrounded by the departments of Rhône, Isère, Ardèche, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Allier, and Saône-et-Loire. The River Loire traverses the department from south to north.
The nearest international airports are: St Etienne Bouthéon: 51km, Lyon Saint Exupéry: 91km, Clermont-Ferrand: 111 km, Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle: 446km.
By train: Gare d’Amplepuis: 7km, Gare de Lyon Perrache: 65km. In each of these airports or train stations, one can hire a car. Should you have the budget it is also possible to reach the property by helicopter and to land inside the estate!The Château can be rented with staff (for cooking and cleaning) and any amount of catering is available at Château on request.
Breakfast can be served in the Turtle court or in the Salle des Gardes between 8:30am and 10:00am. A French breakfast is available for €12.50 per person. Each guest is offered a choice of tea or coffee, French baguettes, fresh croissants and pain au chocolate, jam and fruit. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a full English breakfast available for €17.50 per person.
A four course dinner is available each evening at 20:30 and is prepared with fresh, local ingredients from the kitchen garden. Please note that the owner requires one weeks notice for this service. The price is €50 for the four course dinner. After dinner, relax and enjoy a fine glass of cognac, a digestive, or a good cigar in the Salle des Gardes room.
If you’re going on a day trip or an afternoon outing – try ordering a picnic basket full of paté, baguettes, French cheese, fruit, smoked chicken, a choice of red, white or rose wine, and a bottle of water. A plaid blanket, china and all utensils are provided. The price is €20 per person.
