Taman Ahimsa Indonesia
Holiday Home Rental Description
This villa is a tropical treasure trove of calm and serenity, from the meditation circle to the four relaxation balés. Decorated in shades of blue and accented with Indonesian artefacts span through the carefully curated interior design. There’s even a telescope for late night stargazing – look out in wonder at the twinkle of stars and planets across clear skies.
The java stone lagoon pool is the perfect spot for a refreshing dip to escape the heat – by the pool there’s a cabana area with a bar. Thatched roof balés are designed to be reminiscent of boat hulls sacred spirals and sea shells and blend into the landscape beautifully. The garden has hidden lotus ponds wrapped in dense greenery. Walk directly from the poolside decking to the glittering black sand beach in a matter of moments.
For moments of clarity and peace, meditation ceremonies can be arranged in the circle at the villa. Alternatively, find some zen in a Balinese massage or spa treatment in the special pavilion, where talented therapists will knead away any stress, aches and pains.
Gather for a delicious feast prepared by the villa’s superb chef, who specialises in organic food including raw vegan cuisine. There’s an amazing carved teakwood table and a mixture of indoor and alfresco seating. A fully equipped kitchen is available for home cooking.
Each of the seven bedrooms are named after a different Hindu chakra and have varying colour schemes and quirky furniture, such as a semi-circular bamboo chair and brightly painted ornate cabinet. King size beds are dressed in fine linen and delicate canopies, while richly patterned fabrics and scatter cushions add texture and warmth.
There are dedicated dressing areas and even a writing desk. Two of the upper bedrooms are connected by a bamboo bridge, ideal for families with children. The private balconies with incredible views over the ocean also are made from bamboo, in true Balinese style. Ensuites are a mixture of enclosed and outdoor, with truly stunning hollowed river rock tubs and rain showers.
In the living room, you’ll find beautiful patterned day beds to curl up in, carved chairs and an antique style coffee table. The open sides allow the villa to be bathed in light and brings the fresh air in. Breathe in and relax… you’re on holiday.
Approach the villa through rolling green rice paddies, which will set the tone for your stay in Cemagi, a local village close to Seseh Tanah Lot. Looking out over the Indian ocean, you can see all the way to enchanting Uluwatu at the southern tip of the island.
Arguably the best way to explore the lush green rice fields is by bicycle. There are six available to borrow at the villa, so take some time to get lost among the greenery. Seseh and Pererenan are also charming places to explore on two wheels. In Canggu, take a trip down the Shortcut, a beautiful path through rice plantations. Just be careful when you move to the side to let others pass, or you might end up in the locals’ book of falls!
To the south, discover stunning beaches including Echo, Batu Bolong and Seseh. A beach day is always a winner in Bali, especially if it involves surfing! Bali’s beaches draw surfers from around the world due to the warm seas, year-round surf and excellent reef breaks. Learn to surf in three days on a specially designed masterclass – you’ll be ready to hang ten on Bali’s world-class breaks in no time! Echo beach is popular with locals and tourists alike for a sundowner, while Batu Bolong has bewitching black sand.
Canggu, with its enclave of spas and boutiques, cosy cafes and hip bars is also a short drive from the villa. Indulge in a soothing, traditional Balinese massage at a fancy spa, and on Sundays, head to La Laguna gipsy market for organic and eco-friendly products and traditional handicrafts, to the soundtrack of live music. A special place to practise yoga nearby is Desa Seni, an eco-friendly resort that celebrates Indonesian culture and art.
Bali is known as the ‘Island of the Gods’ and after visiting some of the mesmerising temples, you’ll find out why. A religious site perched high atop a wave-lashed rock formation, it’s believed that the temple here protects Bali from evil sea spirits. Pura Tanah Lot is also a popular spot for sunset. To truly observe the power of the sea temple, visit early in the morning where you can witness a local offering ceremony.
If you want to treat yourself, spend a day in Seminyak – a playground for those who enjoy the finer things in life. Seminyak beach has an irresistible buzz and is full of beach clubs and fancy spas where you can spend a day getting pampered. You can rent a cabana here and enjoy delicious food on the beach.
There are also countless fashionable boutiques where you can spend a leisurely afternoon rummaging through antique treasures and trinkets to take home. For serious bargain hunters, visit the markets in Denpasar to pick up anything from batik fabric to basket bags.
