Cooking lessons at the villa can be arranged for you with typical Tuscan or Italian cooking. Our chef will present and explain dishes of simple, medium or advanced levels and you can prepare them with him and then enjoy them at dinner. At the end of the evening you will be presented with a participation certificate.
Our chef, together with a sommelier and winemakers from the area, will propose dishes with the appropriate wine and explanations about the local products. You will discover unexpected flavours and contrasts, enriching your experience with interesting information and anecdotes.
The Villa
Villa Vaticano is a typical historical Tuscan villa with exclusive swimming pool. This independent villa, built in the second half of the 18th century, is located on the last western slopes of Mount Albano, approximately 250mt. above sea level. Originally it was composed of two farm houses which have been joined together (maintaining however a total independence if required during the Winter season).

The outside
The external walls are covered with typical local stone as are almost all the surrounding houses, conserving the original aspect of the building, when it was constructed…
The villa looks out over typical Tuscan countryside – hills and olive groves, woods of chestnut and oak trees – all immersed in an oasis of silence.
Interior design
For almost 50 years the owners have cultivated their passion for antiques and have furnished the villa with pieces acquired from antique dealers, auction sales or antique fairs. Some of the more particular pieces are the beautiful doors of the walk-in wardrobes in two of the bedrooms, the wooden 17th century plaque from a Florentine convent above the door of one of lounge-rooms. Two of the bedrooms have Empire wardrobes and chests of drawers.
The owners’ taste is eclectic and includes some pieces of Liberty period furniture, for example, the French mirror in the green bathroom and the Sicilian chest of drawers in the yellow bedroom. There is a late Empire sideboard in another of the lounge rooms.
There are many antique prints on the walls, including geographical maps of various countries, and in some of the bedrooms and lounge rooms there are chests of the 16th and 17th century. Another remarkable piece is the billiard table, dating back to the early nineteen hundreds – in perfect condition. Many other pieces, more or less important, have all been chosen in the spirit of tracing our roots back to the past. Also in the garden one can find stone pieces, as well as old terracotta Tuscan vases.
The surrounding area
Villa Vaticano is in an area called the Valdinevole, as yet not ruined by mass tourism, and presenting all the characteristic natural and artistic aspects of the Tuscan countryside.
The villa is most strategically placed: away from the chaos of the cities but with easy access to Tuscan “musts”. In fact, 95% of the symbolic Tuscan landmarks can be reached within an hour and a half by car.
Montecatini Terme (5km.) 50 mins. to Pisa and 50 mins. to Florence by train. Monsummano Terme (2km.) is the nearest town and has 20.000 inhabitants and all necessary facilities and shops etc.
Within a range of 15/20 mins. by car there are many places of interest to visit – the Giusti Grottos with their hot thermal baths, One of the most famous in Italy, the Monsummano quarries, the Pistoia hills and mountains (skiing in the Winter), the Svizzera Pesciatina, innumerable Romanic churches, the Fucecchio swamplands (of great interest for the local flora and fauna) and many small typical Tuscan villages, like Montevettolini, Larciano, Lamporecchio, Vinci (where Leonardo was born), Montecatini Alto, Montecarlo etc).
The Pool
The pool is 6x12mt. and depth of 1.40mt is exclusive to the guests of Villa Vaticano. It is situated on a natural terrace a couple of metres below the villa level and has a wide view of the valley below.
It is an infinity pool with hydromassage. Under the pool there is a changing room with shower and WC.
The night lighting of the pool and its surroundings is particularly suggestive.
The cleaning system of the pool insures utmost hygiene and eliminates any possible inconvenience caused by the chloride. The swimming pool has an automatic system for maintaining the correct values of the PH and of the chlorine.
The pool is open from mid April to mid October (under normal climatic conditions).
Around the pool there is a large sunbathing area with umbrellas, chairs, tables and sun beds. Further down to the right of the pool there is another relaxation area with a gazebo and chairs.
There is also a childrens’ corner.
Wedding and party planner
We can organize for you with professional help, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or special events. For celebrant we can have a celebrant for a symbolic wedding or we can organize locally everything necessary for a civil or a religious wedding. The ceremony can be organized from A to Z. Floral arrangements, photographer, music, catering with a large choice of menus, which can be adapted to the client’s budget, wedding cake, fireworks etc Opera evenings, pop and rock music. Live music groups are available in a setting suitable to the events and according to the client’s instructions.
Activities & Sports
Horse riding: there are various centres in the area where you can organize walks (short or long) through our hillsides.
Rock Climbing: on the hills of Monsummano (10 min away) there are 3 rock walls, sought out by climbers from all over Tuscany for exciting climbs in all safety. It is also possible to have the guidance of experts.
Free gliding: the hill of Monsummano, thanks to its shape, is very suitable for gliding and exciting panoramic passes over the villa and its surrounding hills.
Trekking and biking: we can supply detailed maps of the area in which various trips can be made on foot or by bike. These can be of various duration and difficulty. We have 3 mountain bikes at the villa. We can also supply you an expert guide.
Yoga: you can have at the villa a yoga teacher.
Tennis courts, bowling, skeet shooting are available at short distance from the villa.

Interpreters and guides are always available to accompany you to the many cities of art in Tuscany or in any other place you might be interested in.
Personal driver: an experienced driver, English speaking, can offer daily or weekly services to accompany you by car or van wherever you decide to go (es wine tasting in Chianti vineyards).

Wellness, massages and beauty treatmentsS pa Grotta Giusti. The villa has an agreement with the Grotta Giusti SPA in Monsummano Terme, 10 minutes by car. The antique thermal grotto, already famous for its curative and benevolent effects from the middle of the C19th, was the object of recent and extensive restoration and the number of services increased. As well as the natural cures of the grotto it is possible to enjoy diverse treatments such as massages for health and beauty, oriental disciplines, energetic and osteopathic techniques, massotherapy etc. Everything is illustrated in a treatment brochure, that you will find at the villa. It is also equipped with a thermal swimming-pool. For the guests of the villa a 10% discount is offered.
In Mosummano Terme there is one of the most decorated beauty/hair saloon in Tuscany. Professional masseuse, make-up artists, beauty treatments etc can take care of your hair, face and body at extremely high levels and pleasant and helpful staff, also available for treatments at the villa.
