Villa Conil Spain

The homely Villa Conil enjoys a fabulous garden and swimming pool in a wonderfully peaceful location. It is situated just 7 km from the popular resort of Conil de la Frontera and not much further from Novo Sancti Petri and Chiclana in the provice of Cadiz. The lovely laid-back hipster village of Zahara de los Atunes is also not far away.
Conil de la Frontera is a former fishing village which is now a popular, low rise, whitewashed resort with excellent, unspoiled beaches, cliffs, centuries-old landmarks and a special, welcoming ambience. With old town features, open countryside, forests and villages sprinkled here and there, the area is peaceful and very relaxing. There are many fabulous beaches within easy reach including Playa de El Palmar, Los Canos de Meca, Barbates and Zahara de los Atunes. Guests discover a wonderful array of restaurants serving delicious local dishes including Atun Encebollada and Chocos con Patatas, tuna and cuttlefish. Novo Sancti Petri is another popular seaside development with the Novo Sancti Petri Golf Course having been partly designed by the late Seve Ballesteros. Just off the coast is the island of Sancti Petri with its magnificent 17th century castle. Chiclana is famous for its dolls, wineries and festivals.
Villa Conil is built over two floors with the majority of the rooms on the ground floor. With two bedrooms it sleeps four adults and one child. Throughout you will discover charming traditional furniture and warm terracotta tiles on the floor. The living space enjoys a very high ceiling, an open feature fireplace and comfy sofas and chairs. A dining table and chairs sit at one end together with the staircase that leads to the first floor bedroom. A satellite television is provided for your enjoyment. Just off the main living space is the fully fitted kitchen. The master bedroom is also downstairs with a double bed and use of the tiled shower room. The shower room is also home to the villa’s washing machine. The second bedroom is upstairs with sloping ceilings and four single beds, a lovely space for children or perhaps two adults and a child.
The villa is surrounded by a delightful garden and further by fields. Guests can relaxed by the fenced swimming pool which is a reasonable size at 7m x 3m. The pool terrace enjoys an outdoor shower and a handy toilet. Villa Conil is a great place to kick off your shoes, pour a glass of your favourite tipple and relax. Villa Conil enjoys a delightful countryside location, surrounded by fields, 7 km from Conil de la Frontera in the province of Cadiz. It is close to Novo Sancti Petri, Chiclana and Zahara de los Atunes, 40 km from Cadiz and 60 km from Tarifa. This wonderful region has little rain and more than 3000 hours of sunshine each year. It boasts splendid sandy beaches that run along the coast, some thrilling watersports and fantastic cuisine. It is not surprising that this hidden corner of Spain is being discovered for its laid-back nature and unspoiled landscape.
Conil de la Frontera’s main industries are fishing and tourism. The town enjoys a rich history, dating back to the re-conquest. It boasts many ancient buildings and monuments including the Tower of Guzman, a military fortress from the 14th century, the baroque Church of Misericordia from the 18th century and the Church of Santa Catalina. Conil de la Frontera enjoys an excellent nightlife with lots of good tapas bars and charming lively streets. The town enjoys many official fiestas that are colourful and lively. The tuna fishing industry is very important to the town, using the ancient almadraba system. During May and June many restaurants offer special tuna dishes during the Ruta del Atun de Almadraba. Conil enjoys a number of fine sandy beaches and sheltered coves. The closest to the town centre is the gorgeous La Fontanilla. Playa Roche is a 2km semi-urban beach with a Blue Flag award. Cala Encendida is a small cove that is popular with naturists as the rocks offer a lot of privacy. Cala Aspero is another small sheltered beach with a mass of spectacular rocks at the centre of it.
Chiclana enjoys a fascinating history which dates back to 1303 when King Fernando IV of Castille gave the land to Guzman El Bueno, the defender of Tarifa. Chiclana enjoyed great prosperity in the 17th century when the Spanish fleet was based in Cadiz, 20 km away. During the 19th century Napoleonic invasion, the town was used as a military camp. The town sits on a small hill overlooking the salt marshes, 7 km from the sea. It enjoys many monuments and ancient buildings as well as considerable charm. The Ermita de Santa Ana is visible from afar and offers an excellent view over the town. In the centre of the town are several ancient churches including the Church of San Juan Bautista which dates back to the 18th century, the convent and Church of Jesus Nazareno from the 17th century and the Capilla del Santo Cristo from the 15th century. The 18th century clocktower in Plaza Mayor is a popular landmark. Chiclana is famous for its dolls, its wineries, its festivals and its beautiful beaches, albeit they are a few minutes away in the car. The town’s famous dolls are made at the Fabrica Museo Munecas Marin which claims to be the oldest doll factory in Spain. There are some charming wine bodegas offering delicious dry wines and muscatels, some with tours and tastings. For a treat, the Balneario Fuenteamarga offers some wonderfully therapeutic treatments. Chiclana celebrates its main festival, the Ferias y Fiestas de San Antonio, around 13 June each year,  another, the Virgen Del Carmen Atunera on 16 July on Las Barrosa Beach, near Sancti Petri village and the Santa Ana fiesta on 26 July with fireworks and plenty of wine and dancing.
Novo Sancti Petri is the popular seaside development close to Chiclana. The Novo Sancti Petri Golf Course was partly designed by the late Seve Ballesteros. There are two golden sandy beaches, Playa de Santi Petri and Playa de la Barrosa, both with Blue Flag awards and excellent facilities. Both enjoy gorgeous sand dunes bordered by pine forests. You will find watersports centres where you can rent equipment and join classes in sailing, surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, kite landboarding, kayaking and scuba diving. There are also little boats and inflatables. Just off the coast is the island of Sancti Petri with its magnificent 17th century castle. You can take boat trips over to Sancti Petri Island where you will find the castle built over the ruins of Phoenician and Roman temples.
Zahara de los Atunes is located between Cape Trafalgar and Spain’s southernmost point at Tarifa. You will discover almost deserted beachs and enjoy excellent gastronomy based on fresh seasonal products from the area including tuna and Retino beef. On the beach you can watch the phenomenal sunsets while listening to the live music from the chiringuitos, all within a wild and natural landscape. Zahara de los Atunes’ tiny Mercado de Abastos is a busy hive of activity where guests stock up on fantastic fresh seafood and meat produce most mornings. The local restaurants are wonderful and you can buy great takeaways of the famous Retino burgers or empanadas.
