In a quiet location around 30 minutes’ drive east of the city of Málaga, the rustic Villa Malvino is surrounded by trees and fields in Almayate Alto. Around 2km from the beach, this south-west facing farmhouse has four bedrooms and can accommodate up to 12 guests, offering spacious living areas both inside and around its magnificent outdoor pool.
The impressive pool terrace surrounds a 10m x 5m swimming pool with a variable depth that is available all year-round. There is room for sunbathing or sitting in the sun with drinks, and gorgeous sea views to admire as you do so. Another terrace area provides a dining space surrounded by trees and plants, and you can also enjoy a barbecue at Villa Malvino.
The interiors are modern and tastefully furnished, with a light and spacious living and dining area you can access directly from the terrace. As well as a fireplace, TV and seating area, this space also contains additional beds which boost this villa’s capacity.
A contemporary kitchen incorporates all the appliances you could need, including an oven, ceramic glass hob hotplates, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher, as well as an island/ breakfast bar. A second kitchen and living room is located on the lower-ground floor.
With en suite bathrooms, the quartet of bedrooms have double beds and provide comfortable accommodation suitable for both adults and children. The villa provides other facilities and services including parking for three cars, air-conditioning and Wi-Fi.
Villa Malvino is within 2km of a range of local amenities, including shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Almayate Alto is around 20 minutes’ drive from the beaches of the popular Torrox Costa to the east – along the way you could stop off at the Aquavelis water park or the Baviera golf course. To the west, Málaga is full of life all year round, with regular festivals and events, a huge range of museums and the region’s best shopping among its attractions.Much more than a holiday resort, the city of Málaga has plenty of surprises in store. It’s a charming place to be with something for all tastes, whether you are travelling as a family, on a romantic break, solo or with friends. Beautiful gardens, cool roof terrace bars and some of the best shopping in southern Spain offer just some of the alternatives to beach life, and it’s a city with a full calendar of events, from the big Málaga Fair each summer to the Málaga Jazz Festival in the autumn.
If you’re returning to Málaga after several years, you’ll find that the city has really upped its game as a dining destination in the last decade or so. While the tourist traps still exist, you should also be able to find some high-quality options without too much trouble. There are lovely bakeries, chocolate shops for your coffee and churros and fish restaurants serving Málaga’s signature pescaíto, for example. Countless tapas bars ranging from OK to gourmet are all over the city too.
Something new visitors may not expect is the city’s vast range of museums – there are more than 30 to choose from. Many focus on the art of various styles, but there are also museums dedicated to musical instruments, cars, flamenco and local history, as well as the locally produced wine.
A huge range of traditional markets add colour to Málaga’s shopping scene, and there are plenty of independent shops to discover along with all the usual chains. Elegant Calle Larios is a good place to start for well-known international fashion brands.
Both in Málaga itself and around the Costa del Sol, you have a huge range of water-parks, amusement parks, wildlife parks and the like, affirming the region’s credentials as a family favourite.
