Villa Frajga Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
Situated on the peaceful island of Šipan, just a short ferry ride from the stunning city of Dubrovnik, this five bedroom villa with its own private pool and two beautiful terraces offers the perfect holiday home for relaxation, walking, cycling and cultural heritage.
Located in the hamlet of Frajga, meaning fruit in Latin, the villa enjoys an elevated position on the southern slopes of the hill. A typical Dalmatian country house, it is set in four thousand square metres of olive groves and garden with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and sea beyond.
The owner has taken great care to ensure that guests have every comfort they need and great attention to detail has been paid to the rooms, which each have their own theme connected to the island. The light and airy living-dining room, decorated in warm tones of carob and citrus, has doors opening on to a wonderful terrace for al-fresco dining and the well equipped kitchen, dedicated to the olive, has everything you need for keen cooks to prepare some local specialities.
The first floor double bedroom, decorated in the theme of grapes, is bright and spacious with its own bathroom and lovely views towards the vineyards and nearby countryside. Two smaller twins are ideal for any children in the family and are named after Terra, representing the fertile soil of the land and Aqua, the freshness of the nearby sea.
The two master bedrooms on the top floor pay homage to the pomegranate and fig, two of the oldest Mediterranean plants, they each have their own shower room for guests privacy and comfort.
The stunning swimming pool is located alongside the first floor of the house and has beautiful views of the olive groves that surround it. There is a further large terrace with sun-loungers and chairs, where you can relax, read, sample some local wines and enjoy the tranquillity of the island. There is a summer kitchen with a wood fired barbecue so you can prepare your own sea-food specialities from the local fishermen’s catch of the day.
Šipan, well known for its laid back atmosphere, is an ideal island to discover by bike as you ride past olive and fig trees, citrus groves and vineyards or there are walking trails just a short stroll from the villa. The island has a great cultural heritage – many wealthy families from Dubrovnik built summer residences on the island in the fifteenth century, the late Gothic Rector’s Palace is a fine example not to be missed. The historical villages of Suđurađ and the slightly larger Sipanska Luga are within easy access for eating out or further cultural exploration. A ferry ride from the port of nearby Suđurađ will take you back to the stunning city of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site and certainly worthy of a visit.
