Villa Bojana Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
Located on the boutique Opatija Riviera, between the former fishing village of Ika and the charming town of Lovran, stands the elegant Villa Bojana, just a short stroll from the sea. Built in 1929 and recently restored to a high standard, this holiday home is in a wonderful spot for exploring the stunning and interesting area of sea and mountains.
On the ground floor you will find a perfect annexe with a double bedroom and kitchen-diner living room plus your own terrace, ideal for your morning coffee or simply listening to the birdsong. The upper two floors, with a separate entrance, offer a spacious living-dining room with doors leading to a lovely terrace with great views plus a well equipped kitchen with everything you may need. The three additional bedrooms are stylish and comfortable, two doubles and one twin, two of which lead to a balcony with more pretty vistas.
Lingering long days can be spent by the wonderful swimming pool, lounging in the sun or dining al-fresco under the covered gazebo with the brilliant summer kitchen and barbecue. The villa even has its own sauna for guests to use to ensure a truly relaxing holiday.
If you can leave the delights of your holiday home then the sea is just a short walk away, where you will find the seaside promenade, Lungomare, which follows the coast from Opatija to Lovran. You can walk in either direction, finding pretty pebble beaches, rocky outlets, seaside cafes and of course magnificent views. The small seaside resort of Ika is about 1km or head a little further south to Lovran where you will find a relaxing atmosphere and excellent cuisine, chestnuts being a speciality of this area.
Those who are looking for an active holiday can enjoy the watersports along the coast or head inland to the National Park of Ucka for hiking, biking and horse riding amongst other adrenalin fuelled mountain activities. Beach lovers can explore to their hearts content, whether north towards the village beaches of Ičići or drive south to the 2km long beach at Moscenicka Draga, believed to be one of the most beautiful in the area.
However you choose to spend your holiday, with so much beauty on your doorstep and everything you need within a short drive, you will be sure to enjoy this wonderful villa and region. Part of the elegant Opatija Riviera, the small resort of Ika (1km) used to be a fisherman’s village but is now a charming seaside spot where you will find a couple of places to eat in the summer, a small supermarket and pebble beaches, backed by the 12km long Lungomare promenade that follows the coast from Opatija to Lovran and beyond. Just a short distance away you will find the equally pretty Ičići (3km) with its harbour, good local taverns, fantastic beach and a great range of watersports. In both villages you can admire the impressive art-noveau villas constructed for the wealthy nobility of that period and try the impressive local cuisine, specialising in chestnuts served with meat and as a dessert.
Just south of Ika is the beautiful town of Lovran (2km) with its relaxing atmosphere and picturesque setting at the foot of Mount Ucka. The narrow streets of the historical old town are a delight to explore and you can see more stunning villas built for the elite from the days of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Activities in this area include diving and boating, or head inland for hiking and mountain biking in the hills. You may be fortunate to be visiting Lovran during one of their many celebrations such as the chestnut festival in October.
Head further north and you will find the sophisticated seaside town of Opatija (6km) with its spa hotels, further interesting architecture and emerging restaurant scene. This is the start of the Lungomare promenade that heads 12km south passing rocky coves, pretty pebble beaches, pine backed coast and charming seaside villages all the way to Lovran. Just a little further south is the 2km long beach at Moscenicka Draga, believed to be one of the most beautiful in the area.
The outstanding beauty of the National Park of Ucka is a short drive away and here is a wealth of activities such as walking trails, cycling, horse riding and exploring the flora and fauna that surrounds you. The panoramic views from the peaks are incredible, with views of Rijeka, the Kvarner islands, Istria, Platak and beyond.
Should you wish to venture further afield then why not visit one of the Adriatic’s islands. Krk and Cres can be reached in just over an hour (via Krk bridge or by ferry). Krk has an interesting history to discover with Roman remains whilst the island of Cres has stunning coves, beautiful nature and some excellent cuisine. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
