Villa Anzhel Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Anzhel is a vibrant and light-filled contemporary home with traditional features, set in a semi-rural position close to Golovik, on the eastern coast of Istria, near to the Kvarner Bay. This immaculately styled home offers airy accommodation, seamlessly equipped with every creature comfort, along with an impressive array of extras including a private pool, sauna and jacuzzi, for a decadent touch. Executed in keeping with traditional Croatian architectural style with terracotta sloping roofs and olive green shutters against creamy brickwork, this two-homes-in-one dwelling is brimming with characterful touches and interiors flair, both sleek and modern, as well as emanating a good dose of local flavour.
With five bedrooms and four bathrooms across the two buildings, (three bedrooms in one home and two in the other), 12 guests can be accommodated in impeccable comfort and style. Set within superbly maintained grounds, with expansive green lawns, al fresco dining terrace, palm trees and lazily hanging hammock, whilst the poolside is adorned with indulgent loungers. With a dining pavilion complete with brick-built barbecue and children’s play park, this feel-good home meets the needs of the whole family. Elegant wrought-iron outdoor dining furniture sets the scene for slow-paced lunches after a morning swim or evening drinks as the sun sets over the hills.
Stepping inside, the interiors offer a blend of authentic Croatian rural charm along with flawless fittings and finishes. The large open-plan living-dining room has exposed brickwork and timber beams for a rustic feel, together with understated comfort and indoor-outdoor living thanks to the French windows and dining porch. Vividly patterned scatter cushions and artwork lend an artisanal note, while the farmhouse style kitchen-dining space is seamlessly equipped as well as being warmly homey. For a moment of unadulterated indulgence, there is a tranquil “wellness” space with a sauna and jacuzzi. Sinking into the bubbling water after a busy day of sight-seeing will hit the right note.
All the contemporary comforts such as dishwasher, television, wi-fi and air-conditioning are in place, while this home doesn’t compromise on provincial charm. The bedrooms offer restorative serenity, from the pretty pastel-toned room with four-poster bed and balcony access, to the mint green room with bohemian style upholstered chair to the nautical-style cobalt blue room, each has their own distinct characterful quirks.
In the second home, the open-plan living-dining space is full of personal touches and understated rustic style, complete with teal toned seating and pretty cottage style dresser and exposed timber beams. The two bedrooms in this home have a cosy, attic-like feel yet are full of natural daylight like the rest of this lovely home.
Villa Anzhel offers a tranquil idyll, equipped with its own luxury extras and pretty gardens, close to the wonderful coast and Kvarner Bay, offering two families or an extended family the opportunity to holiday both together yet with separate spaces.Villa Anzhel is in a semi-rural location, just a couple of kilometres to the town centre (2.5km) and the beach (3.8km), outside the small village of Golovik on the eastern Istrian coast, on the slopes of the Ucka mountain. This part of Croatia is off the beaten track and known as offering one of the region’s best beaches, which is only a five-minute drive away in Bresec.
Bresec is a pretty medieval town with a 2km long pebble beach. A walk up to the 15th-century church of St. Magdalena, which is famous for its frescos, will reward visitors with stunning views of the surrounding area, the town’s charming harbour and islands.
Ucka Nature Park is one of Croatia’s best-kept secrets, and at 160km² of mountains and green open plateaux it is a beautifully remote spot of Croatia; on clear days, Vojak (1401m), its highest peak, offers sublime views of the Italian Alps and the Bay of Trieste.
Opatija (21km, 30 minutes drive), is a city known for its elegant style and beautiful sea views – the riviera as it is known as. The ‘lungomare’ is the 12-km seaside promenade, constructed in 1889, which stretches all the way to Lovran, winding its way past the belle-epoque villas that nod to the town’s glamorous past as being holiday choice to the Austro-Hungarian elite.
Awash with history and fresh, affordable cuisine, Pula, the capital of Istria (1 hour and 15 minutes distance) boasts stretches of glittering Adriatic coastland and the most complete Roman colosseum in the world. It is known for its charming coastal atmosphere and elegant Italian architecture along with bustling markets.
