In the village of Naklice, just outside the town of Omiš, the attractive Villa Auna is ideally situated for seeing the best of the Dalmatian Coast. Accommodating up to eight guests, this modern property offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and has its own private pool and terrace.
Situated in a quiet location, this villa offers peace and tranquillity less than 10 minutes’ drive from the nearest beach. You can enjoy a Mediterranean feel on the spacious terrace, which includes a covered dining area with seating for eight and a barbecue. Right next to this, you have the 7m x 3m swimming pool, as well as several sun loungers and an outdoor shower. You can still appreciate the fine views from inside the villa, where a comfortable living room offers TV, ample seating and direct access to the dining terrace. This split-level space also incorporates another dining area and the kitchen which comes equipped with a coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and more.
Two bedrooms can be found on the same floor – one with a king-size bed, one with a double. There is also a family bathroom. On the upper floor, there is a double bedroom with en-suite, and another double bedroom and family bathroom. These two bedrooms also share a lovely terrace which overlooks the pool.
Villa Auna lies just 10 minutes’ drive from the popular coastal town of Omiš, which is famed for its pirate history, and only 30 minutes from the magnificent city of Split, home of historical wonders such as Diocletian’s Palace. In between the two, a variety of beautiful beaches can be found, with the likes of Duce and Dugi Rat easily accessible from Naklice. In Omiš, you can also try a range of high-adrenaline water-sports on the River Cetina, or simply enjoy the splendour of the Old Town.At the mouth of the Cetina River, the town of Omiš is one of the jewels of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, this historic town lies around 25km from the country’s second city, Split, making it easy to see both if you are staying in the area.
A popular tourist destination, Omiš is known for its many old fortresses and churches, as well as the activities that take place on the river. All sorts of water-sports make use of it, with rafting and canyoning very popular – organised tours are available. You can also enjoy zip-lining across the water, and other sports such as hiking and diving. A Franciscan monastery and the Mirabella fortress, dating from the 13th century, are among the notable historical sights, while visiting the Starigrad fortress, or Fortica, requires some commitment. The climb takes around an hour, but the views it offers when you get there are certainly rewarding.
The town’s pirate history has inspired all sorts of visitor-friendly activity – you are sure to see something pirate-related before too long. In summer, the weekly Pirate Night tours and Pirate Weekend are popular attractions, especially with families, and even recreate the battles of old.
Omiš and the coast around it offer a variety of lovely beaches – you could stop off at several of them on the way to Split, where landmarks like Diocletian’s Palace and the Cathedral of St Domnius await you.
