This beautiful waterfront villa on the northern coast of Korčula is the perfect base for some island life, luxury style. A 4-bedroom villa with a stunning, panoramic view of the ocean, Villa Babina lies in the pretty village of Prigradica and features its own pool and terrace.
The high walls of the pool terrace afford you plenty of privacy at Villa Babina, and there’s space around the pool for sun loungers and seating. The other end of the terrace looks directly to the ocean so you don’t miss out on the view of the incredibly clear blue seas.
A second terrace area on the opposite side of the house has a barbecue, more space for sunbathing and covered dining area with seating for eight. The beach is just 500m away, so you can be there as early as you wish. Bicycles are available to borrow to go exploring, and there are some gorgeous coastal walks.
This villa’s modern interior is impressive, with a contemporary lounge space offering comfy chairs, a fireplace and Smart TV with satellite channels. A similar style runs through to the kitchen, equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge and a lot more – there’s another sea view here too.
The house has four comfortable double bedrooms, each one with a shower room, and some with a private balcony overlooking the pool or the ocean. It’s just 600m from the nearest shops and restaurants in Prigradica, and an easy drive from many of the island’s other attractive destinations.
Among the closest are Blato and Vela Luka, one of the island’s main ports which provides ferry links with the mainland around 10km away. Further east you have the town of Korčula itself, a real beauty with a charming character – many visit for St. Mark’s Cathedral, but there’s a lot more to see, including a great open-air cinema in the summer.The island of Korčula is so picturesque it’s a wonder that it’s not overrun with visitors. The beautiful Old Town of Korčula sits pretty amongst olive groves, vineyards and pine forests on the island’s north-eastern side, looking out towards the Pelješac peninsula.
As one of the Adriatic’s more populous islands, Korčula is well-prepared for the visitors it receives, many of whom appreciate its laid-back vibe and natural beauty. The main town is a lovely place to wander, with street markets, pavement cafés and old buildings to admire. Look out for St Mark’s Cathedral and the imposing Revelin Tower which once marked the entrance to the walled city. The view, looking out over the harbour, is a charming one.
Around 15km from the town of Korčula, the lovely Pupnatska Luca beach is also worth a visit; aside from chilling out in the sun, its crystal blue waters are great for swimming and snorkelling. Elsewhere on the island, you can try white-water rafting in Blato, or diving in Vela Luka.
You may find some visitor attractions based around Marco Polo’s (possibly tenuous) connection to Korčula, as he is something of an unofficial mascot for the island. However, there are many more authentic experiences to be had on the island. With galleries, winery tours and many beautiful villages to see, avoid the tourist traps and keep it real.
