This super-stylish contemporary villa on pretty Ciovo island offers chic accommodation just a few minutes’ walk from the medieval island town of Trogir on the Dalmatian coast. Upon entering Villa Leonidis on the ground floor, guests will find two of the four minimally styled bedrooms, tastefully furnished with luxurious bedlinen, along with a stylish shower room. The fabulous glass and marble staircase leads up to two more bedrooms and another shared shower room on the first floor. The second floor is home to the stunning living area, with a well-equipped kitchen and dining table, and an L-shaped sofa perfectly positioned in front of a floor-to-ceiling window that provides guests with superb, panoramic views across the town and to the mountains beyond.
From this floor a door leads guests up an exterior flight of stairs to the superb roof terrace. With a comfortable sofa as well as a table for al fresco dining, this roof terrace is the star of the show, offering spectacular views at any time of day. Guests can enjoy relaxing with a drink in the late afternoon and watch the breath-taking sunset. Ciovo island in Dalmatia is connected to the mainland by two road bridges, one of which also connects it to the tiny island that is home to the pretty town of Trogir. The north of the island is lush and green, covered with pine trees, cypress trees and olives whereas the south is more rocky and barren. Just 11 square miles in size, it is home to a lovely selection of beaches and coves.
The gorgeous town of Trogir seems frozen in time. Originally a 3rd century BC Greek settlement, the town was under Venetian rule for many years. A miniature walled city, it has an attractive promenade and a beautiful cathedral, surrounded by winding cobbled streets that are a photographer’s paradise.
When it comes to hitting the beach, whether you are looking for the glitz and entertainment of Okrug Gornji beach with its lively bars, watersports and cafes, or a quieter experience on the white pebble beach at Mavarstica, also home to a diving school, there is a beach for everyone on Ciovo.
The island is ideally located for getting out and exploring some of the region’s best destinations on the mainland. Just over an hour’s drive will bring you to the Krka National Park, famous for its stunning waterfalls. Take a boat trip across the lake through the park and if you fancy, round off your trip with a magical dip in the turquoise water where you can cool off and admire the spectacular views of the waterfalls behind you.
If you are feeling in need of some culture, the beautiful city of Split is roughly a 40-minute drive from Trogir. Lose yourself in the impressive and well-preserved remains of Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO site covering 7 acres – roughly half of the old city. Walk the narrow streets, famously used as location for Game of Thrones, and marvel at the towering columns in the peristyle (central square). Round off your day on the Riva, Split’s superbly stylish promenade, lined with palm trees and a large number of sophisticated bars and restaurants, where you can sit with a drink and watch the yachts in the harbour.
