Villa Liska Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
Located on one of the many flourishing hill-sides of the Mirna Valley, overlooking the sublime mountainous surroundings, Villa Liska is the dream destination for nature-lovers and those seeking a little peace and calm.
The exterior embodies the traditional Croatian style of stone and terracotta, and the interiors are similarly rustic. Fabulous wooden beams stretch overhead, contrasting beautifully with the white-painted ceilings and walls, and matching sofas sit elegantly on polished wood flooring.
There are two sofas in front of the satellite TV, perfect for relaxing out of the heat of the day, or on the cooler evenings. The kitchen is spacious and modern, and alongside it sits a dining table for six. Large windows fill the rooms with natural light, creating a warm and welcoming ambience.
On the lower floor, there are two charming bedrooms, both with double beds and one with direct access to the terrace, complete with a dining table, which overlooks the magnificent surrounding landscape. Both enjoy ensuite facilities, one with a shower and one with a bathtub. There is a guest WC on the first floor, alongside the living areas.
The vast Mediterranean garden is a luxurious spot for soaking up a little sunshine and absorbing the scents and sounds of the charming countryside. With views stretching for miles in every direction, you can enjoy the highlights of the region from your private terrace. Sun beds, a coffee table and alfresco dining ensure you can enjoy the great outdoors whatever mood you’re in!
Under an hour away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.
In fact, one-third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria. Villa Liska is ideally placed to enjoy the full spectrum of Istrian delights, 10km away is Motovun a lovely hill-top town, where you can enjoy a walk around the city walls.
Each summer, in July or August, there is the internationally-renowned Motovun Film Festival, during which 40,000 indie-cinema enthusiasts flock to rural Istria for five days of films, food and culture.
For more insights into the delightful region of Istria, the nearby town of Novigrad has a beautiful Marina, while in Grisignana you can enjoy the renowned Jazz Festival. And you’re under half an hour from Slovenia!
A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!
From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.
Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.
Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural ways for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from nearby Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails.
Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato.
Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce! Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly see a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’!
