Villa Lokva Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
Nestled in the vibrant rural landscape of Štifanići, Villa Lokva offers guests a luxurious home in a thoroughly tranquil setting, just 20 minutes from the fascinating town of Poreč!
Built in just 2017, the villa is a modern wonder. Contemporary additions, such as underfloor heating throughout, will ensure your absolute comfort, while the design incorporates fabulous traditional elements, including stone and wood textures, which adds a delightful rustic charm.
In the living room, you will find a large L-shaped sofa in front of the Smart TV and fireplace. The kitchen sits alongside the living room, with all the latest mod cons set against a charmingly rustic design. There is a large island which both creates plenty of space for meal prep and acts as a breakfast bar, ideal for casual mornings.
Between the kitchen and living room is the elegant dining area which sits beneath a beautiful interior stone arch, with the same exposed stone effect along one side of the room. On the other wall are several patio doors, ensuring a warm, bright and welcoming space within, with a lovely view over the terrace and pool area.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin. One of the double rooms has an ensuite bathroom while the other two share a family bathroom. There is also an extra WC on the ground floor.
All three rooms feature the same elegant wire bedframes and moving furniture as well as air conditioning and a TV. On the first floor, there is also a large terrace which is equipped with a casual seating area around the coffee table – the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning sun!
In the garden, you are first met with the fabulous, spacious veranda, on which there is an alfresco dining area. The beautiful pool is lined with sun-loungers where you can soak up the sunshine, and a pool house to one side has a second dining area, along with a brick barbeque. A large lawn surrounds the house to the other hand. There is also a trampoline on this fenced plot.
Practically inside the vast forest of the Istrian interior and just 40 minutes away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away. Enjoying both the rural tranquillity of interior Istria and proximity to towns and activities, Villa Lokva is less than 15 minutes from nearby Poreč, a city of culture, tourism, sport and entertainment which both has one of the most important Western Byzantine churches outside Italy and is also the party hub of the peninsula! Showing just how diverse this region is!
Also, under half an hour away, you can’t miss the delightful Venetian coastal town of Rovinj half-way up the western coastline. Wander the old city, with its Venetian architecture and marble streets and admire the views across the marina before settling for a meal in one of its many beautiful sea-side restaurants.
And be sure to stop off in Lim Bay while you’re there – a dramatic Fjord stretching for miles inland, just seven minutes from the villa! A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!
From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.
Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.
Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural ways for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails.
Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato. Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce!
Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.
