Villa Motvun Croatia

Luxury Villas
| 3 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

With a striking stone exterior and antique building materials, Villa Motvun is a unique piece of paradise overlooking the rolling hills and ancient forests of the Istrian interior!
As if the magnificent exterior wasn’t enough, style and sophistication ooze through the interior spaces, where handcrafted stone sits side-by-side with luxury fittings, including a charming fireplace in the main room!
In the vast living room you will find an L-shaped sofa with room for all the group to gather together and a large satellite TV, with both air-conditioning and Wi-Fi available throughout the villa for keeping you cool and connected.
For sociable meal times, there’s both a large, fully-equipped kitchen with everything you could need to get everyone involved in rustling up a Mediterranean delight and a delightful dining table which sits directly opposite a set of French doors looking out over to the lovely town of Motovun on the hillside! From here you can immediately access the alfresco dining area and a casual seating area on the terrace.
There are three enchanting bedrooms, one on each floor, all of which enjoy large windows onto the fascinating natural world beyond, so you can wake up to the soft sounds of birdsong and step outside to enjoy your coffee in the fresh morning sunshine.
The first bedroom has a double bed and double door access onto the terrace, ideal for those who like to get up and go! The other two also have a double bed and the same sophisticated and welcoming style. All three enjoy beautiful ensuite facilities, with a lovely shower.
Out in your beautiful garden, you can appreciate the traditional rural life which pervades this region, as you overlook miles upon miles of vineyards and olive trees from your spacious terrace. There’s a large pool terrace on the lower floor, with a majestic infinity pool and several loungers for all your sunbathing needs – the pool enjoys heating so you can truly relax in its warm depths!
A shaded alfresco dining area sits on the veranda beside the BBQ, perfect for enjoying your meals under the stars! On the first-floor balcony, you will find a casual seating area – the ideal place to enjoy a tipple with a view!
We can arrange both bicycle and car hire for you to get out and explore the magic of Istria, just let us know what you’d like. Only 30 minutes from the coast and 40 minutes away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.
One-third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria. Just 6km away, Motovun is a lovely hill-top town, where you can enjoy a walk around the city walls. Each summer, in July or August, there is the internationally-renowned Motovun Film Festival, during which 40,000 indie-cinema enthusiasts flock to rural Istria for five days of films, food and culture. Just half an hour away is the beautiful town of Novigrad with a beautiful Marina, while even nearer is Grožnjan, where you can enjoy the renowned Jazz Festival.
A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach! From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria!
As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages are nestled among the undulating countryside.
Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.
Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural ways for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails.
Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato. Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce!
Unlike the rest of Croatia, Istrian food tends to be light and heavily influenced by its Italian neighbours. Generally, pasta, gnocchi, risotto and polenta accompany each meal, while the coastal areas specialise in a fantastic array of seafood, including scampi, squid and sole and inland it is more common to find prosciutto, or ‘pršut’, and sausages.
Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.
