Situated in the hills above Kvarner Bay, the glorious Villa Plezaj is a modern 5-bedroom property with an excellent sea view. Just 15 minutes from Opatija, this spacious villa can accommodate up to ten guests and includes a stunning terrace and infinity pool.
On Istria’s idyllic eastern coast, Villa Plezaj is within easy reach of picturesque Ičići, Opatija and the vast Učka Nature Park – a wonderful area for some serious walking. Beautifully styled, the outdoor areas incorporate a 12m x 4.5m infinity pool, a relaxing pergola lounge, bar and delightful Mediterranean gardens. A sun terrace, dining area and summer kitchen are also available to you.
The impeccable interiors enjoy some gorgeous views of the sea, and include a large living area with fireplace and ample seating, located on the ground floor. On the same level, you have a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area with seating for 12. An en suite double bedroom, a TV room and a gym, complete with sauna and shower, are also downstairs.
The four remaining bedrooms can be found on the upper floor. There are two doubles with sea views at the front of the house, and both have a luxury bathroom and balcony. Another double and a twin at the side of the house also have balconies and en suite bathrooms. The house is fully air-conditioned, and offers private parking and internet access.
The villa is located a short walk from the village of Medveja, which offers restaurants, bars, shops and a pebble beach. Around 10km away, Opatija is a historic city known for its high-quality dining, upscale nightlife and beautiful ocean outlook. The culturally rich city of Rijeka lies not too much further along the coast, about 40 minutes’ drive from Medveja, and is the location of an international airport. The elegant resort of Opatija is one of Istria’s oldest and forms part of the stunning region of Kvarner. The region’s first hotels were built there, and this glamorous city still has plenty to attract the discerning visitor, successfully recapturing some of its former glory in recent years. The Kvarner Riviera is renowned for its high-quality dining and fine spas, and a stroll along Opatija’s promenade, the Lungomare, will give you a taste of the stunning sea views it offers.
This upmarket destination is also known for its great nightlife. It’s the home of several clubs located by the harbour, as well as a casino and plenty of bars and restaurants. You can get a decent meal in the centre of town, but for the pick of the bunch, head to the Volosko area. Many of the local restaurants showcase the finest food and drink of the region – the fresh seafood of Kvarner Bay is something to look out for.
The town is not far from the large Učka Nature Park a vast, mountainous area on the Istrian peninsula’s eastern side. It makes a great place to go hiking or biking, and the views are spectacular, especially if you make it to the top of Mount Vojak, from which the Italian Alps are visible. Numerous cycling routes of varying difficulty wind their way around the Opatija area – the diverse landscapes will certainly reward you for the effort.
The city of Rijeka, along the coast from Opatija, is well worth a visit. Architecturally rich, it has an endless list of must-see sights, including the Museum of Natural History, an impressive Baroque cathedral and the buzzing Korzo promenade.
