Just five minutes from the beach, the lovely Villa Ponu overlooks the Makarska Riviera on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Offering stunning panoramic views which extend across to the islands of Brač and Hvar, this four bedroom property features modern interiors and an outdoor pool.
Suitable for up to eight guests, Villa Ponu is just a 10-minute drive from Makarska itself. With the mighty Mount Biokovo in the background, this elegant resort is one of the most attractive on the coast, with plenty of restaurants and relaxed nightlife to enjoy around its pretty harbour.The villa has its own private pool right outside, with the adjacent terrace offering seating and covered dining areas. The views are beautiful, and you can also make use of a barbecue, sun loungers and parasols.
Inside, the house is welcoming and very well-appointed. A spacious living room and dining area occupy the ground floor, with plush, comfy seating and eye-catching furnishings. There is also a kitchen which forms part of the same open-plan space, offering easy access to the terrace.
Upstairs, you have three double bedrooms, each with TV and en suite bathroom. A sun terrace can also be found on the first floor. An additional bedroom, with a bathroom and balcony, is on the next floor up. There is a bathtub, and a TV in this room too.
This elegant villa is equipped with air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. With the beaches and mountains of Makarska so close, you will be able to enjoy some unforgettable days out. Other coastal locations like Omiš and Split are within driving distance, and boat trips to the islands of Hvar and Brač are not to be missed.Makarska is an unforgettable destination, home to wonderful pebble and sandy beaches, a vibrant centre and a pretty promenade. A great place to get active, it’s just as good for chilling out in a bar or café.
The presence of Mount Biokovo ensures that the climate of Makarska remains reliably hospitable. The town enjoys more than 2,750 hours of sun each year, staying mild even in winter. Exploring the mountains is one of the pleasures of Makarska, exposing you to a variety of plant and animal species and a few sights worth looking out for. Among them are the holy shrine of Vepric at the foot of the hills, and Kotišina botanical garden.
Along the harbour and in Makarska’s Kačić square, you will find plenty of places to eat and drink – the town’s status as an important tourist destination ensures that. Nightlife is generally relaxed and friendly, but if you’re after something livelier you should be able to find that too. During the day, beach clubs keep things suitably chilled. Water-sports and boat trips to the many nearby islands provide yet more ways to spend your days.
If you’re after some historic attractions, the Franciscan monastery and the Church of St Mark, with what must be one of the most amazing backdrops of any church, are among Makarska’s offerings. But it’s the opportunity to spend some time in the great outdoors that brings people to the town.
