In a hilltop location overlooking the village of the same name, Villa Prigradica enjoys gorgeous ocean views from its position on Korčula’s north-western coast. Within easy reach of the towns of Vela Luka, Korčula and Lumbarda, this magnificent 3-bedroom villa has room for six guests and features an enticing outdoor pool and hot tub.
Spacious terrace areas on both levels offer the opportunity to soak up the sun or relax in the shade. Six sun loungers line up beside the 32 sq m pool, and you also have a chilled-out seating area and barbecue. The wonderfully positioned hot tub is perfect for a sea-view dip after dark, perhaps with a glass of champagne in hand.
The villa is only 100m from the beach, and has shops and restaurants within a similarly short distance. It looks out towards the nearby island of Hvar, an upscale retreat with plenty of entertainment if you fancy a boat trip.
Inside, the open-plan living and dining area offers a pretty view of the village and is equipped with a flatscreen TV and a large dining table and chairs. The kitchen provides everything from a coffee machine to a deep freeze, and you even have your own mini-gym and sauna cabin.
The three double bedrooms are attractively furnished and offer direct access to the upper terrace where there is additional seating. There are also three shower rooms for extra convenience.
Villa Prigradica lies just 4km from the small town of Blato, which lies in beautiful surroundings, while Prigradica’s pretty harbour is a pleasant spot for relaxing, with a smattering of cafés and restaurants nearby. A little further west, the larger town of Vela Luka is the place to head for ferry trips to Split, an intriguing cultural centre and unmissable views from the top of Hum Hill.
The island of Korčula is so picturesque it’s a wonder that it’s not overrun with visitors. The beautiful Old Town of Korčula sits pretty amongst olive groves, vineyards and pine forests on the island’s north-eastern side, looking out towards the Pelješac peninsula.
As one of the Adriatic’s more populous islands, Korčula is well-prepared for the visitors it receives, many of whom appreciate its laid-back vibe and natural beauty. The main town is a lovely place to wander, with street markets, pavement cafés and old buildings to admire. Look out for St Mark’s Cathedral and the imposing Revelin Tower which once marked the entrance to the walled city. The view, looking out over the harbour, is a charming one.
Around 15km from the town of Korčula, the lovely Pupnatska Luca beach is also worth a visit; aside from chilling out in the sun, its crystal blue waters are great for swimming and snorkelling. Elsewhere on the island, you can try white-water rafting in Blato, or diving in Vela Luka.
You may find some visitor attractions based around Marco Polo’s (possibly tenuous) connection to Korčula, as he is something of an unofficial mascot for the island. However, there are many more authentic experiences to be had on the island. With galleries, winery tours and many beautiful villages to see, avoid the tourist traps and keep it real.
