This chic villa has endless space to relax and a lovely private pool, which is backed by a canopy of trees. Take a cooling dip in the sparkling azure water and soak up the dreamy atmosphere. There are lots of sun loungers around the pool for guest use curl up with a book or magazine and make the most of the Istrian sunshine. The exteriors of the property are grey, and a balcony runs along the upper level of the villa. Free parking is available on site, with no need to book.
Enter through the sliding doors to reach the living room with pale wooden floors and fresh white walls. Decorated in a minimalist style, there is a cosy blue-grey sofa to sink into and modern glossy white furniture. A satellite television is mounted on the wall, perfect for movie nights with the whole family.
In a separate area on the lower floor, you will find the kitchen and indoor dining table. While the kitchen is compact, it is equipped with everything you could need for self catering. There’s an oven, microwave, dishwasher and an American fridge with an ice maker. Blue watercolour flower art hangs on the walls. There is plenty of cupboard space and a stylish breakfast bar to perch at. Enjoy a meal around the formal dining table with grey curved chairs or out on the balcony, overlooking the swimming pool.
There are four bedrooms at this villa, all decorated in a similar blue, grey and white colour palette. A mixture of double rooms and twin beds are available, with crisp linen and indigo scatter cushions. There are also wall-mounted TVs in the rooms and some have a little writing desk, perfect for getting some travel journaling done. This villa is equipped with air conditioning, so you can adjust this to keep everyone comfortable.
Some of the bedrooms have their own private balcony and ensuite bathroom. Bathrooms at this villa are spacious and some have the choice of a corner bathtub or a modern, glass-encased shower. This villa is perfectly located in Pula, which is bursting with history, culture and Roman mythology. In Pula there is a famous colosseum that was built in the 1st century AD. It is now known as the Pula Arena and hosts concerts, theatre and events. In the days of the Romans, it featured gladiator fights, which are now re-enacted In the summer months.
There are lots of carnivals in Pula, so keep an eye out for these during your visit. Additionally, be sure to visit the Temple of Augustus, which was built to honour the emperor of the same name. Located in the main square, the temple is free to visit.
This villa is also close to Banjole, a charming fishing village turned beloved holiday destination. Banjole has stunning hiking trails that wind through pine forests and around the Istrian peninsula. There are gorgeous coastal views from here and there’s plenty of mountain biking trails, perfect for those who like to explore on two wheels. Around Banjole, there are several horse riding ranches that guests can visit.
Istria is well known for its tasty cuisine and fresh ingredients, like wild asparagus and roasted chestnuts. Try pljukanci, which is a hand-rolled pasta dish served with all sorts of delicious sauces. Banjole is famous for its seafood, so if you are in the area be sure to sample some. Vineyard tours are also popular throughout Istria. There are also many wineries and vineyards that offer tours. Admire the views of rolling hills as you sip a glass of of Refošk or Malvazija.
Beaches in the nearby area include Ambrela, which has a blue flag award and gorgeous azure waters. The entrance to the sea is gently sloped and the coastline is made up of fine white pebbles. Ambrela beach is popular with tourists and locals alike, who voted it the best city beach. There is a restaurant and cafe on site.
Pula is also well placed for visiting Brijuni National Park, an archepilago of 14 islands. Take a day trip to discover the wild, natural beauty of the islands. It can be accessed by a short boat ride from Pula, which is beautifully scenic in itself. There are dinosaur footprints on the largest island, Viliki Brijuni and plenty of archaeological wonders to explore. Hikers will love the trails around the islands, with fascinating flora and fauna at every turn.
Fazana is also nearby; a traditional, quaint fishing town with a lovely waterfront lined with colourful cafes. The village overlooks the Adriatic Sea and is authentically Croatian. Istria as a region has a strong Italian influence, being just two hours from Venice. It’s easy to hop across the border and spend a day exploring Italy – a great holiday bonus.
