Villa Tasca is contemporary, minimalistic and very stylish. It is situated in a very picturesque area of Korcula just over 1.5 miles from the atmospheric Korcula Town, the mini-Dubrovnik of Korcula. With three immaculate double bedrooms, this villa is perfect for a family or group of friends. Built all on one level, the spacious villa occupies a large plot with views to the sea. It is extremely close to the beach, so a perfect location for a wonderful family holiday. The use of a variety of materials – stone, wood, polished plaster and lush planting make this a very attractive, modern and comfortable villa. The outdoor pool area and garden is splendid with very sumptuous sun loungers and outdoor dining furniture. The downstairs open-plan living space is very sleek, again with gorgeous, tasteful furniture. The kitchen is fabulous. Off the hallway are the three wonderful bedrooms and the pristine family bathroom packed with fluffy towels. The full-height windows throughout make this a very bright and airy villa, with huge doors opening to the pool area. You feel like the villa and outside space are all one! Just along from Zrnovska Banja Bay towards Racisce, Vrbovica is a large bay on the northern shore of Korcula with cafes and several pebble/shingle beaches so plenty of places to swim and sunbathe. The backdrop of the lush pine, oak and cypress forests and olive groves make this a spectacular location.The stunning Korcula is 20 miles long and rather narrow. It is known for its dense forest – the ancient Greeks called the island Black Korcula for this reason. Vrbovica is just across the water from Viganj and just off the Peljesac Channel, so it is a good place to learn how to windsurf and also good for snorkelling. Like Zrnovska Banja, this area started to grow from families building summer homes by the sea so that they could come down from the hills and bathe in the sea. Offering rustic charm, the medieval, incredibly well-maintained Korcula town has palm-lined streets and ancient surrounding walls, regularly inviting comparisons with Dubrovnik. The centrepiece is the slim bell tower of St Mark’s Cathedral standing guard over the narrow Peljesac Channel. The cathedral took three centuries to build so features Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque styles. The Korcula Cathedral Treasury contains priestly vestments and church silver as well as an impressive collection of religious art. The narrow alleys lead to amazing restaurants and fabulous boutiques. Two kilometres south of Korcula town is St Anthony’s Hill which looms over the road to Lumbarda. An alley lined with cypress leads to a 102-step stairway that scales the hill. At the top there is a small chapel. The views of the islets and Orebic shore are thrilling. Korcula Island’s woolly green covering of evergreen holm oak and prickly maquis is punctuated with majestic cypress spears. Hillside-hugging villages in the centre of the island, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves are well worth a visit. Korcula is one of Dalmatia’s most relaxing getaways. There are stunning views of nearby islands of Hvar and Lastovo from Korcula. There are some fantastic beaches, including Lumbarda, Pupnat, Bilin Zal and Bacva beach. Be warned though, the steep narrow access road to Bacva is not for the faint-hearted. Some tourists go by boat!
The best way to get to Korcula is to fly to either Split or Dubrovnik and then take the car ferry or catamaran.
