Located on a peaceful hillside around 8km from Omiš, the 3-bedroom Villa Vitez is a great base for exploring this very special area. Featuring a private terrace with covered dining area and its own outdoor pool, the house is surrounded by mountains and beautiful countryside.
The area has a Mediterranean feel with olive groves, pine forests and large open spaces. As well as the 5.6m x 4.2m private pool with step access, the outdoor space includes a brick barbecue and five sun loungers. Meanwhile, the children will enjoy the adjacent garden with a swing and see-saw.
The rooms inside the house enjoy lovely views of the natural surroundings, and include an attractive, comfortable living room with direct access to the covered dining area. There is a fireplace and seating area with satellite TV, Wi-Fi and PlayStation 4, and an elegant dining area with seating for eight. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher and anything else you are likely to need.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor, including one with a king-size bed and views of the pool and pine forest. One of the bedrooms can also be used as a twin room. There are two bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, while on the lower ground you can find a gym with fitness equipment.
This charming villa enjoys close proximity to the coastal town of Omiš, which stands on the River Cetina. This historic town is big on landmark sights like churches and fortresses, and its impressive landscape forms a fine backdrop for all sorts of adrenaline-fuelled activity. Rafting on the river is a popular choice, as is canyoning, while those who would rather take it easy can enjoy the lovely beaches and excellent dining which Omiš offers.
A small harbour town on the Dalmatian Coast, Omiš sits at the mouth of the Cetina River. It has a long and rich history, with stories of the town’s notorious pirates running amok in the Middle Ages among those you are bound to discover. In the 13th and 14th century, they were the most-feared in the Adriatic, and used the river to make a quick getaway after attacking passing trade ships. In summer, Pirate Night tours are a popular attraction, telling tales of the pirates in a more family-friendly way.
Omiš is a pleasant place to spend your time with lovely beaches and a wealth of great restaurants and cafés. It’s visually impressive, with steep cliffs providing a backdrop to the Old Town, where you can find a Franciscan monastery and several old churches, in addition to the Mirabella fortress, dating from the 13th century. At the top of the mountain, there is also the Starigrad fortress – it’s quite a climb, but a rewarding one.
Olive groves and vineyards lend their magic to the beautiful areas which surround the town, and the Cetina gives you the opportunity to try out water-sports like rafting, canyoning and canoeing.
Omiš is something of a cultural hub too. The town hosts festivals celebrating music and theatre on a regular basis, with an annual highlight being the Festival of Dalmatian Klapas each summer. Split is also easily accessible from Omiš, around 25km away, so it’s easy to take a bus or mini-van to see the Diocletian Palace, the Cathedral of St Domnius or the town’s strangely unmissable frog museum.
